Bring driven NUTS!!! Continual not responding/crashing and 7.4 update not available or showing

New Here ,

Hi

I'm running Windows 10 with full student Adobe Cloud subscription. I've updated Lightroom to 7.3.1 as there is no option for me to update to 7.4 as it doesn't seem available on cloud subscription.  Any idea why not?

Lightroom is continually crashing as I get the "not responding" message appearing and is painfully slow to show adjustments if at all.

I've followed forum advice, deactivated GPU, Ran as administrator, Reinstalled version 7.2 but nothing works or helps.  Need some urgent solution to this issue.

My system is:
32 GB RAM (31.9 usable)Hard drive 412 GB feee of 939 GB

External Hard Drive 354 GB of 931 GB

I really don't want to have to do a full uninstall and then a reinstall (and even then if I do a reinstall am I going to see 7.4 as option), but really don't know what else to do.

Over to you all.  And many thanks in advance for your ideas/suggestions to fix this.

Sometimes when the most current version doesn't seem to be available via the Creative Cloud application, you need to sign out of the Creative Cloud application, then sign in again.

thank you.  I followed that and logged out and logged in again and it only gives me option for 7.3.1 or versions below that.

really strange 7.4 is not there

Any thougts of the issue of "not responding" happening and crashing?  Would 7.4 update solve this?

The "Other Versions" screen is not relevant here (however since 7.3.1 is one of the "other versions", it implies that you have 7.4 installed). When you look at the Creative Cloud Application, to the right of Lightroom Classic CC, you should see "Open", which ought to get you Lightroom Classic CC 7.4. So, please open Lightroom Classic CC via the button in the Creative Cloud Application (do NOT open Lightroom any other way) and go to Help->System Info and report what version of Lightroom is shown there (DO NOT paste the entire contents of Help->System Info into your reply)

So what happens when you click on Update??

Then, open Lightroom Classic CC from the Creative Cloud app? (Do not open Lightroom any other way)

I am having the exact same issue. Constant crash with no apparent cause. I will disable GPU but I also have a crash report I can apply here? Or should I start a new thread.

If the crashes continue even though you have 7.4 (do they? You haven't really said that 7.4 is crashing), here are some suggestions that have worked for some people:

  • uninstall, run the Adobe Creative Cloud cleaner tool, reinstall
  • create a new user on your computer, try launching Lightroom for that new user account

Thank you.

So i will uninstall first. Then when it is uninstalled run the clean tool.

That’s the way to do it?

Thanks

I never had to do this, so I don't really have an answer. Don't the instructions that come with the Cleaner Tool explain?

Alas Adobe do not provide any real advice and there is no option to remove just lightroom.

Abyone else or Adobe folk reckon what to do.

I’ve chosen option 6.

Or if that doesn’t work how easy is it to remove all adobe and just do a full reinstall. Surely that would solve the issue?

Any advice on that.

Thanks

I'm guessing you didn't download the proper file. Go here: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

I have to say 7.3.1 is the most unstable of all the versions.

I find it very frustrating to work with.

The first time I open it , it almost always crashes.

It uses way more system resources that a piece of software like that should

I'm getting tired of Lightroom

You can/should update to LR CL CC 7.4 or go back to 7.2 or 7.1. See if any of those work better for you.

Need some help please,

So I've now reinstalled Lightroom and my screen is now like this . Previously Lightroom was configured for me, so could someone advise how do I create a new catalog and import the images to start this and have all my previous images there as well.

Just want to get things working again and seeing my images that were imported previously.

So really need some assistance in how to do this

Thanks in advance for help

File-Open Catalog and find the catalog file you were previously using. All your images should pop back up.
