Canon R6 tethers on older mac but not 2023 mac?

I have just got a 2023 Macbook Pro and downloaded Lightroom Classic (LRC). It's running Ventura 13.2.1

When I connect the camera to LRC sees the images on the memory card but when I try to tether it hangs up (multi coloured circle)

I have just tried it on my old 2018 MBP and it works OK. It's running on Ventura 13.0.1

To add. I have just read that people seem to be using the Canon EOS Utility. Is that the answer?

If that's the answer, when I go to the Canon site ir detects that I'm using Catalina. (There's also a later version on their site, Monterey) Will these work when I am using Ventura.
