Catalog after Update and switching to new computer not possible to open

Hi!

I updated my Lightroom Classic CC (I don't know my last version) and also I switched to a new computer. I don't have access to the old computer anymore, just to it's files.

The Lightroom catalog is somehow corrupted, Lightroom wants to fix it but is not able to.

What can I do?

I tried to rebuild the lrcat with sqlite, but there I get an Error: near line 1: near "??P": syntax error

Thanks!

    1. Do you have an older backup, another backup

    2. If so, do not use SQLite on it.

    3. After you unzipped that first backup, you did double click on it, correct?

    4. in your settings, when you close Lightroom, do you automatically backup? And if so do you have it check integrity?

    5. In the future, if you allow Lightroom to check integrity upon exit and backup, don’t, checking integr at closure, if it fails, will then just go and backup an even worse catalog. Change the default I LightRoom to ask you what catalog to open, thus will allow you to check integrity at launch (safer). Backup without that option.

    yes, disjointed questions, I know.

    1. You are right! The last two backups I tested are both corrupted, but the one from April is fine.

    3. Yes I do automatically backup, and also check integrity. Probably it failed.

Would it still be possible somehow to recover the most recent backup?

Thanks for the help of you all already!

What do you mean by seems to be corrupted, do you get a message from LR that it is? Or is it acting buggy? Or does it crash?

talking about the old unzipped backup, correct?

Yes, it is the relatively recent Backup I'm trying to open.

Lightroom backups by default are stored in a folder with the date of the creation the backup is in the folder as the .zip extension.

You will unzip the file and copy it into the appropriate new location on the new computer. Double click on catalog file to open Lightroom with the catalog. Just a thought.

That's what I did. I wrote "relatively", because the last backup is from August, but since then I didn't do much with Lightroom.

Lightroom starts, catalog seems to be corrupted, so I have to close Lightroom, open Lightroom again, it tries to repair it and fails to repair.

What happens when you try to open the catalog file on the new computer? If there is an error message, please quote the exact unedited word-for-word verbatim error message?
