I have a new PC and I have just installed Lightroom CC the first time. I didn't realize that OneNote on Windows 10 automatically downloads everything, so my Catalogue has ended up there. The only pictures that were uploaded to OneDrive are one large import from a memory card. Very soon OneNote kept telling me it was full, so I changed the settings to stop it from downloading pictures. I also deleted all my pictures from OneNote after establishing that all my photos are safely stored on an external harddrive where I intended them to be. This is where I thought my Catalogue was, but apparently it was not. To stop OneNote from filling up I logged out and unlinked my PC from OneNote. After realizing the Catalogue was on my OneDrive I logged in again and linked my PC to it again, with the setting to not automatically upload photos. It then started uploading all my photos again, and doubled many...
The problem:
My catalogue is on OneDrive according to the Catalogue Settings/General. When I click "Show" it shows me the Lightroom folder on my OneDrive, but it has a red X on it.
When I go into the Lightroom folder there are five different folders:
Lightroom Catalogue Previews.lrdata - RED X
Lightroom Catalogue Smart Previews.lrdata - RED X
Lightroom Catalogue - SYNC ARROWS
Lightroom Catalogue.lrcat.lock - GREEN TICK
Lightroom Catalogue.lrcat-journal - SYNC ARROWS
What does this mean? I want to have my Catalogue where my photos are, on the external harddrive, or if it is a better option, on the C Drive.
I have XMP files for some pictures on the external harddrive, but not for all. I don't really understand why?
Have I messed it up by turning of OneNote or can I fix this?
Fist the easy part: XMP files are created by LR, when you edit a file. Files without XMP files attached are still as transfered from the camera.
