Hey.
Why do Lightroom Classic move my files from the folder where I post them to a folder with a date somewhere else on the hardisk? And why are the files changed to DNG from NEF? And why can't lightroom remember my work?
Its all a mess. I just found out about this.
Also the jpg files do not go back the the original folder but to the folder lightroom made and changed my files to dng. Two years of work lost.
Hope for clues
Thanks and Merry Christmas Ola.

What you see is what you have selected yourself in the import dialog. At the top of the dialog you can select 'Copy', but also 'Copy as DNG', and apparently that is what you did. In the destination panel on the right, you can select Organize: 'Into one folder' or a dated folder structure based on the capture dates of the images. That is what you did.
At the bottom, select to open and show in explorer after the export and see what happens.
Use, Copy or Add, and don't use Move.
It depends on one thing only: Do you copy the photos from the memory card (or connected USB camera) by yourself, using the explorer, or any other file tool, to its final location? If yes, then use Add.
If you would like Lightroom to move the photo to its final location, and at the same time maybe take care of the folders/names and even rename the photo, use Copy.
Just my 0.02: I let LrC do the job. Lr manages my folder structure and renames the photo upo

Please describe your process in much more details. What you are trying to achieve and how you currently are trying to get there.
Files are converted to DNG if you tell it to do so during import. Second, some (AI) manipulations also need to convert it to DNG.
LrC does not move files to other location by itself. They are moved during import if you import with "Copy", and never else.
I don't believe any work is lost until proven so.
Also, please share the system information found in the help menu.

Yes thanks. It looks likeyYou solved one of the problems .
A second problem is to export a jpg after it is developed. Before I could put it iwould go directly to the orginal folder, if I choosed it.
Now I don't know where it goes, if it is exported at all. I have too choose a specific folder everytime and thats not very easy. The presets I made do not work to put inn original folder.

Check the settings of that preset. At the top you can specify a specific folder, but also 'Same folder as original'.

I want to use "same folder as original" but it want work.
The other two do work. Specific folder and Choose folder later works.

That is not an answer to my question.

The answer is that if I use "same folder as original" in the preset nothing happens.
Nothing happens in exort either.
it looks like it is exporting but I don't know where.
I can't find it in search on the hardisk.

Yes something came up here. But theres a new copied folder. So there are to folders with same name in different locations. The orginal file I made is in pictures, but lightroom has made a new folder where it puts pictures it thinks is the original folder. When I choose it comes in my folder and when it is supposed to i same folder as original it comes in a folder located in the the other place.
Maybe there is a copy fault when importing.

Yes I do something wrong here.
When working with a file shall I use Copy Move or Add?
When I choose Copy or Move it asks for the "to Acer" folder and thats wrong.
This didn't happen before I changed computer. So I've changed something in the workflow.
I would like to put a photo in a original folder, and I want to work with it there, and I want to put it back finnished in the same folder. How do I import do make this right?

First, please note the remark by the moderator! A 'map' is what Dutch people call a 'kaart'.
Your screenshot is too small to be of any use, but from what you explain I conclude this may be the infamous 'Capitalization Error'. This is a well known problem, although it is unclear what triggers it. Basically, what happens is that you have two different folders, one called ‘XXXX’ (or a combination of upper- and lower cast) and the other one called ‘xxxx’. In other words, the names are the same, except for the capitalisation of at least one letter. Because MacOS and Windows are case-insensitive, your OS sees those two folders as one and the same folder and so it deals with this without you even being aware of it. You will only see one single folder in the Mac Finder or Windows Explorer!!! But Lightroom is case-sensitive, so Lightroom does see two different folders. Here's how to fix the problem. https://www.lightroomqueen.com/capitalization-catalog-error/
