I've been having problems with Lightroom Classic for about a month now and the problem is getting worse to the point where I can't edit anything because I can't even see my photo's now. Everything is greyed out. The library is loading no prob and it doesn't say "can't find file" if it's lost the file or library. It was crashing when I opened it and I tried the shift+option and that is now allowing me to open the app but I can't see any pics and it crashes when I try to do anything like export one of the greyed photo's or try and change any settings. It's very strange and seems to be going wrong in every way with lots and lots of lagging and crashing. That's how this started a month ago. I'm totally stumped. OS & Lighrtoom CC both up to date. Really appreciate any suggestions! OS Sequia 15.0.1. Lightroom 14.0.1.

Please provide a screen capture of what you see in the Library Module. Please show us a screen capture of what you see in the Develop Module. Use the "Insert Photos" icon to include the screen captures in your reply. Do NOT attach files.
Also, please provide (as text) the information in Help->SYstem Info, down to and including the Plug-in information. We don't want and don't need and absolutely hate anything after that.

Try this to eliminate the gray previews: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-change-my-monitor-profile-to-check-whether-its-corrupted/

Thanks but I already have it set to their recommended profile - Apple XDR display...

The three small circles on your thumbnails indicate corrupted Library previews.
The previews are contained in a folder (might display as a file or a package) whose name ends with Previews.lrdata, which you will find in this folder:
/Users/sylvanalee/Documents/1. Sylv Creates/1. Editing/Lightroom Catalogue Nov
With LrC closed, delete this folder. Do not delete anything else.
The previews will rebuild as you browse folders in Library.
It also looks as though editing tools are greyed out in Develop.
This could be due to preferences corruption caused by the crashing.
Try resetting the preferences. Method 3 described on this page is the simplest way to do it.
LrC will create a new preferences file on launch.

Thanks, I have 2 files with Previews.lrdata, one normal and one smart previews, which file do I delete?
I reset the preferences as you described and now the previews are showing up and I can scroll through them but VERY SLOWLY. I still get the rainbow wheel as I scroll through in develop mode and the pictures come up pixelated and take a very long time to normalise if at all... This was happening before then the problem got worse with crashing and previews eventually dissapeared. Is there a bigger problem?

Delete Previews.lrdata, not Smart Previews.lrdata.
Previews should load faster after rebuilding.

Try purging the Camera Raw cache. It contains your Develop previews which could be corrupted as well.
You do this in Preferences > Performance.
I also see that you have HDR in Library enabled. If you don't have an HDR monitor, or don't work with HDR images, I suggest that you turn it off in Preferences > Performance.
If the crashing continues, and a dialog appears for sending a crash report to Adobe, do so, using the same email address as in your Adobe ID. Then reply to this thread, stating that you have sent a crash report.
An Adobe employee can then take a look at it.
You should also check your hard drive for errors. A faulty hard drive can cause preview corruption as well as catalog corruption.

Thank you, I've followed the instructions, all seems well so far. Thank you. How do I check my HD for errors?
