in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi @gill_6075, welcome to the forums! You have several import options when importing files into Lightroom, including "Copy as DNG". Selecting "Copy as DNG" will convert the original CR3 file to DNG format and copy the DNG file to your destination folder. If you choose other options like "Copy" or "Add", the CR3 files will be imported in their original format. To ensure your CR3 files are converted to DNG during import, select the "Copy as DNG" option in the import settings within Lightroom. I hope this helps! ^CH

Thank you for your reply. I definitely selected change to ding when I imported the photos. Strangely though I have looked at the imported photos again and I see a few are dng but the majority are cr3.jpeg! I have been converting something the menu in lightroom. They are converting to a file called cr3.dng. But I don't want to have to convert each photo individually, it would take forever.

Lightroom-CLASSIC would not create files with "cr3.jpeg" file-type (ie. a JPG file type.) Something curious (renaming?) is happening here. Are you shooting and importing both CR3 and JPG files from your camera?

"Copy as DNG" will create .DNG file types from the CR3 files, as indicated by @Claire H.

I have double checked both cameras and I am definitely only shooting in RAW (cr3 or 2 depending on which camera is used)
