Denoise option is not clickable in Enhance window

Hi all,

I just bought Lightroom to edit my photo's and for now especially these where I had to use a high ISO so where the pictures have a lot of noise.

I want to use the denoise-option in the Enhance window, but I can not click at this option.

In the picture i added you can see that only the option below ' Super resolution' is clickable, but the top two ' Reduse noise' and ' RAW details' are not.

I have a Macbook Air from 2020 with IOS 14.0.

Can someone help me with getting this function to work?

What kind of photo? What camera? If it is not a RAW or DNG, denoise will not work. Even some RAW or DNG will not work, if they are compressed or doesn't have mosaic information in the file.

What graphics card is in your Macbook Air?

I thought i shot in RAW but apparently it was JPEG.

I shot something in RAW and now it's working.

I can reproduce the same problem if I select a JPEG format image, which is not currently compatible with Reduce Noise and Raw Details. I also see the triangular warning icons, and if I hover the pointer over each triangle, the pop-up message has the same answer: Incompatible format. Is that what you see when you hover the pointer over each warning icons?

The way to get the function to work is to select a raw or DNG version of the image, if available. If you select a supported raw file, all options should be available: AI Denoise, Raw Details, and Super Resolution, although even then, you can use either AI Denoise or Super Resolution but not both. Some types of DNG (I think linear or demosaiced DNG), and all non-raw types such as JPEG and TIFF, are supported only for Super Resolution. Because for now, AI Denoise and Raw Details work only on camera raw data.

All of this might change and become more flexible in the future, because Adobe has publicly said that they are looking for ways to make more file formats compatible. But for now, those are the limitations.
