Desktop icon missing???

I forgot to shut my computer down last night, and when I accesed the computer this morning, my lightroom desktop icon was missing. I had to search for lightroom and then create a new icon.

Why did this happen? I am using a licensed adobe lightroom 6.8

Desktop icons sometimes disappear on my Windows computer for no apparent reason.

I don't think Lightroom has anything to do with this, probably a glitch in the OS.
