Develop mode shows no image

New Here ,

Hi there, please some help is needed.

After import images and edit in develop mode, if I go to Library mode, pick another image and go back to develop mode, just a black screen appears. The image is shown in the Navigator tab, but the main panel is black.

If I disable the GPU, the image shows up again.

This problem doesn't exist when I use the film strip.

Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Carkiffer,

We're sorry to hear about this, as your image comes back when you disable the GPU, could you please let us know which GPU is installed in your computer, also which operating system and Lightroom version are you working on?

Regards,

Sahil

To complicate things, I had the same issue (no Develop photo showing) so I turned Graphics Acceleration "on", restarted (which took over 80 seconds to shut down) and for now it seems to be quite snappy. At the moment my Lightroom Classic CC varies between very good and unusable.

Further, after opening up a small catalog, making a few edits, creating virtual copies and editing in dFine2 I had the "No Develop Photo" problem and also lost the ability to Export with Previous. Nothing happens, no error - it just does nothing. I shut down Lightroom and it took 3 minutes 50 seconds to close the program. There is a serious problem here, this is the worst it has been for me.

Thanks, Sahil.

Note that this problem only occurs when I toggle between Library and Develop modules.

When I pick pictures directly from the film strip there's no problem.

Library view and Develop view use different parts of a computers graphics. (In my 'simple' understanding)

The blank view in the Develop module indicates the Graphics "acceleration" is not working for you and is best to disable the GPU in Lightroom preferences (not in system devices).

GPU acceleration is causing problems for quite a few Lr users, but unless you have a 4K monitor it is often of no benefit to have it turned on. So can I suggest to leave it disabled in Preferences.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 14.5.1, Photoshop 26.10, ACR 17.5, Lightroom 8.5, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 15.1.1 .
