I upload my iPhone photos to the LR cloud and download (sync) them onto my computer (LR Classic). I edit the photos in Develop, but the edits don't show when I go back to Library view.

What kind of edits and are you perhaps using the new HDR editing? HDR editing does not show (yet) in the Library previews, some other edits may be too subtle to see. Check if there really is such a problem by making a very obvious edit, like changing the image to B&W.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
