Exports to JPEG getting very blurry and pixelated

Community Beginner ,
Jan 31, 2019 Jan 31, 2019

Greetings,

I'm trying to export some photos for a client but they are coming out very blurry and pixelated compared to the Lightroom image. I am stylizing them heavily but can't quiet figure out what is causing this in the export. I have attached photos of the image in lightroom, the export, and the export settings... any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. That setting was leftover from a previous project. I've since unchecked the box altogether. I'm ultimately hoping to get the image to export as close as possible to the look in Develop module. The export seems to be emphasizing the adjustment layers particular on the stripes of the collar as well as the heavy pixellation in the sky.

Look at the Resize to Fit area! 8K by 10K, that's kind of insane.

And you don't need the quality set to 100 FWIW.

I've also tried changing that to 100% percent image size with the same results. Would you recommend a setting?

Turn off the check box all together for one. Then maybe post an example. Is the original a raw?

Yes the original is a RAW. I'll uncheck that box and retry within the next hour. My apologies.

Ok, I unchecked the box and it came out essentially the same. Still all jacked up.

That's not going to help whatsoever.

So again, uncheck this box. Output a TIFF. Does it appear like the JPEG?

Are you actually viewing what you've done in LR, within Develop and with the zoom at 1:1? "Jacked up" there too?

You literally told me to uncheck the box and try again. So I did and relayed that information to you. Not sure why you are being rude about this.

Regardless, I exported a TIFF and it appears exactly like the JPEG. To answer your question, yes, I took the first screenshot from the Develop module with the zoom at 1:1.

The first image I posted is Develop module 1:1. The second is the exported JPEG. I've opened it with multiple programs as well and they all look the same... officially, "jacked up."

I'm really not trying to get into a war of words here... simply looking for any guidance.

Below is the screenshot of the TIFF

Then it is what it is; probably your processing of the raw. Officially, "jacked up."

What happens in DEVELOP at 1:1 if GPU settings in preference are off?

Recalibrate the display, could be a corrupted display profile if that doesn't work. Do NOT build a V4 spec ICC display profile.

It is strange. Turning off the GPU settings in preferences does not effect the image in the develop module in any noticeable way. I'll your other suggestions.

Honestly, I'm surprised. I've really pushed settings before for musicians and performers and never had this issue. Relatively speaking, the processing I did to this image wasn't nearly as extreme as some of the other projects I've delivered.

Thanks for the help. I'll keep working away at it.

Oddly enough... opening the file in Lightroom CC (not classic) and using "save to" produces a JPEG that is pretty close to the develop module. Close enough to work for now.

Thanks again.

If you are looking to Print that image to a  8" x 10" piece of paper then you need to crop it to that ratio, 8:10. For that ratio you need that same 3448 pixels on the short side and only 4310 pixels on the long side.

First off the issue about 8000 by 10000 was probably just a oops moment for that member overlooking 8 inch by 10 inch, not pixels.

Moving on

Instead of sharing a screenshot, present us with a jpeg, need not be big.

I would suspect the member talking of monitor calibration would be more spot on.

And if you have dropbox, and are willing, perhaps examples their? (copyright and contract issues might arise with your client???)
