External Hard drive for Lightroom Classic CC on web

I just purchased the web version of Lightroom Classic CC and would like to offload photos from my MacBook Pro to an external hard drive. How do I do this?

I am concerned about your title, as there is no such thing as Lightroom Classic CC on the web. Lightroom Classic CC runs on your local computer and the catalog and photos must be stored locally (photos could also be stored on a network drive).

So, if I ignore that (should I ignore it?), the step-by-step instructions (with screen captures) to move photos to a different disk are given in this document (scroll down to "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location"). Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

Or do you mean the similarly named Lightroom CC, which stores photo on the web?

Thanks for your response. I had Lightroom classic cc on another computer, an older version,  but I did not buy the subscription but rather the program itself. On the new computer  I bought a package with a small monthly fee that included Photoshop. This was downloaded from a web site.

On this new computer I can not get the program to recognize an external hard drive. The old method: press the folder plus sign and add a folder is not working. So I thought with this new version there is another way or maybe there is some configuration problem.

Still unclear.

You have purchased a Photography Plan which comes in three different bundles.

  1. Photography Plan 1TB
  2. Photography Plan 20GB
  3. Lightroom CC Plan (1TB)

Which one have you got?

You are not answering the question.

What Lightroom software are you using now? Please go to Help->System Info and tell us exactly what it says next to Lightroom Version or Lightroom Classic Version.

I pay $9.99/month. This is the 20GB version.

This is Lightroom Classic version 8.0.

You are one version behind. LR Classic CC is at 8.1.

In LR No drive is seen unless you have imported image from it or you have created a folder on it while in LR.

To the right of where it says "Folders" in the left hand panel if the Library module click the Plus sign ( + ) and select Create Folder. a File Manager dialog window will open then browse to the external drive and select it then type in a Folder name and click OK.

Then you will see the drive and that folder you just created.

Earlier in this thread, I gave a link to instructions to move your photos to a different drive.

And you do not have WEB software.
