Hi everyone,
I'm encountering an issue in Adobe Lightroom Classic where I'm seeing gray previews even though I have the "Original + Smart Preview" setting enabled. Here are the details of my situation:
I'm at a loss for what to try next. Has anyone else experienced this issue or can suggest further troubleshooting steps? Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Rob

How is your display calibrated?
Please try if it helps to reset the display profile to the default sRGB profile, just for testing purpose.

The three dots in the thumbnails. I think that points to previews being generated. I think at least one other posting is in this community on that.(see links at bottom)
I've tried generating new previews by going to Library > Previews > Build Standard-Sized Previews, but the issue persists.
Have you attempted actually deleting the Library Previews Folder?

Please also make sure to have the latest GPU driver installed.
Post the system information found in the Help menu of LrC.

Hi @RobTheCarGuy ,
Can you please share the below files to us?
1. Diagnostic Report
a. Go to Lightroom Preferences (Edit -> Preferences)
b. Go to the Lightroom Sync tab
c. Hold the Alt key and click 'Generate Diagnostic Report'
2. Previews.db
a. Go to the folder where your catalog is cretead
b. Double click on the <catalogname>Previews.lrdata
c. You should see a file called previews
Please share both these files, which helps in investigating the issue.
Thanks,
Arjun

Hi, I am experiencing the sme issues after I did 3 updates, attached are 3 images, I am guessing you have the same problem, I have tried un-installing and re- installing but same issues
By @Dirk A Klynsmith
A few members with earlier issues found that allowing a very unreasonable time for LrC to finish the sync (overnight) eventually worked.

Hey Dirk, did you get it resolved; Since my updates yesterday i'm having the same issues as you have.
And i must say i find it redicilous that Adobe just says " Hey have a corrputed, and then u can fix it yourself". There are carreers on teh line here and this kind of behaviour from Adobe is unacceptable.

Is there any solution to this problem already?

Well for me it was the COlor-Profile Issue; Apparantly when updating to 13:5, Adobe takes itself the Liberty, to just delete the existing COlor Profile of the monitor, since all my Profiles were not listed anymore. Put it back to sRGB prfile ICC, restarted Lightroom, back are the previews. Soory Adobe, this is sloppy work, at best. And I'm actually really angry at Adobe for wasting two entire days, on a software issue thats cause by Adobe. And yet still, how is it possible that previews are not displayed with wrong color-profiles, i mean in the edit the pictures are shown fine, should create the same issue there...

LrC does most definitely not delete monitor profiles.
I'm guessing that you are on Windows, which is known to install low quality monitor profiles from monitor manufacturers when doing updates. These profiles are often defective out of the box, and this could be causing the issue.
A defective monitor profile can lead to several issues – like a strong color cast in images as well as the histogram, different colors in Library and Develop, and images not displaying at all.

I didn't do a Windows update, i did a Lightroom Classic Update, which are to different things, Its like 5 minutes in between and after the update the Previews stopped working. Doesn't sound to me like a WIndows Issue at all.
But after i finish my work for my client, I'm happy to reproduce the same circumstances by uninstalling and stepwise updating Lightroom to see if the same issues occurs.
