Hi brains trust
my adobe has crashed and when re opening it shows photos in the bottom tool bar. (0 of 1000) but there is no preview.
I have gone through previous to the crash and colour selected my pics I wish to edit. But when re opening there is no preview
any thoughts on what can be causing this?

Please post a screen capture along with the system information found in the help menu.
Do you see ! on the photos in the grid or ? on the folders in the folder panel?

As it says, there is nothing selected in either the Catalog or the Folder section in the left panel.
Hit F7 to show it and select what you want to see ...

Don't care about the quick collection for the moment.
If you have selected "All Photographs" and no filter is active, you should see all previews in the library grid view.
You seemed to have imported only once, all of these photos in one batch.
What format do the files have?
It's also worth trying to reset the preferences as described here since it is known to cure from many issues: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Can you take a new screenshot of that Library Mode. This one a full screen. Need to make sure both left and right panels are shown, need to make sure filmstrip is shown (even if it has no previews)
Also, a screenshot from my rig with some inquiries annotated:

.. or simply click on "None" in the Filter bar ... 😉
However, in the screen capture he posted, there are no filters active.

There is no simple issue with filters here. The crash may have corrupted the helper data, or the catalog. @todd37035365mpfc try this first: Open your catalog folder and look for 'Catalogname Helper.lrdata'. Delete it and then start Lightroom Classic again. Does this solve it? If not, try resetting the preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/
Did that help? If again it did not, do you have a catalog backup from before the crash?

I don't think that will work. Lightroom does not see photos at all in the grid, it's not that it does see the photos but can't draw previews for them.
