Hi ! I use lightroom for organizing and editing my photos, and also importing my photos directly from my camera. My pictures are stores on an external harddrive, and I’ve always organized my private photos by year / month and sometimes in a subfolder named the occation if I’ve shot many photos that month. I have organized my photos like that way before I started use Lightroom.
Back to why I’m asking here. When I use LR to import photos from my camera, and select the folder I want to save them in, LR creates new subfolders, one with the year and one more with the date the picture was taken. I don’t want LR to do that, and can’t find out how to avoid it. I want to import the chosen pictures directly to the folder i choose, without the new dated subfolders. It’s very messy when I only take a few pictures of my kids everyday in January, and LR creates a new folder for each date.
Thank you in advance, and pardon my french!

In the Import dialog, go to the "destination" panel on the right side and verify the location and options that you want.
The folder tree will show you any new folders to be created using an italics font.

Yep, as ManiacJoe says, go to the Destination panel. In it is the Organize menu that show 'By date'. Click this and chose the other option, which is 'Into One Folder', and uses the currently selected folder in the panel below. You can also enable the 'Use Subfolder' option to add a folder below this. Be warned, this is a sticky setting, so next time, Lightroom will import into this folder as well, unless you change it.

"...and select the folder I want to save them in, LR creates new subfolders, one with the year and one more with the date the picture was taken."
This happens when you have used a format like- Organize: 2019/2019-10-12 and then selected a folder other than the topmost 'Parent' folder (eg. My Pictures, etc)
There is an excellent article here- https://www.lightroomqueen.com/import-create-dated-folders/
And in particular the section- "There’s one particular thing to look out for here… nested year folders"
