How to remove all effects from a mask?

Hi,

I am trying to do some mask adjustments to my image in lightroom. My mask settings are set to zero. I also have the mask color turned off. But there is still some kind of effect on the mask that is making it bright when I want it to be neutral. Do you guys have any idea why my mask brush is making everything bright when I have all the mask brush effects set to zero? Here is a screenshot. Thanks so much!

I see that the mask is  on. What is your overlay color?Perhaps white?

My mask overlay color is normally red.

And it's red in this instance, but it's turned off.

Show Selected  Mask Overlay is clearly checked on, look at bottom towards left

Thanks for replying. When I toggle that, it's red, because my mask color is red. When I toggle it on, the mask effect is white like the original screenshot above. See here:

Then show us a screen shot of that image with all adjustments RESET.

You can create a virtual copy to do that so if you have made any edits to the original you won't lose them.

Hi, thanks for replying. This is now resolved in a very strange way. It felt like some simple setting was off so I understand your reply, however it seemed to be more comples than that (see my post below).

Hold the shift key and then press the o ( OH not zero) key to cycle through the overlay colors.

Or just the o key to turn the Mask Overly on/off.

That is what you are seeing. Your is set to white. Turn it to green or red.

Thank you to everyone for their reply. I was just in the online support with Adobe for about 2 hours and gave the access to my computer. They had to completely reset my preferences in lightroom, and turn off my graphics processor and said my GPU was not compatible and that there was some corruption? After they did this, my mask issue is now resolved. So strange.
