How to use AI features in Lightroom Classic 14.3.1

Explorer ,
May 11, 2025 May 11, 2025

I have watched videos on how to use AI in Lightroom Classic, but I don't see the AI option in my version which is 14.3.1.  It is running on Windows 11 Pro, Release 24H2.    I would appreciate your expert tips 🙂

There are about 7 or 8 different places where you can use AI in LrC now. Which AI do you want? What should AI do to your photos?

Actually, for multiple things going forward. My first project is to 'repair' a fading sepia photo from the 1940's.

You need to be specific about which AI you want to use. I don't know what 'repair' means to you, could you be much more specific about what you would like to do? There is no generic AI to 'repair' a photo.

Thank you for your response. All I really want to do right now is learn how to use AI in Lightroom. I have watched one tutorial but I am not seeing the AI feature shown in the video in my version of LR Classic.

Maybe you should start by explaining what 'AI feature' you are talking about, as others already asked too, but you still haven't said? You said "My first project is to 'repair' a fading sepia photo from the 1940's", but there is no AI feature in Lightroom Classic that does this. Photoshop has a 'neural filter' for repairing old photos, so are you sure you are looking at the right application?

Frankly, I am somewhat stunned by your responses.  I asked because my Lightroom 'tool' display is different from the 1 and only video I have watched.  I came here simply to get started on the basics but I won't take any more of your time.

I'll start here and move on... New Adobe Lightroom AI Innovations Empower Everyone to Edit Like a Pro | Adobe Blog

I have both Lightroom and Photoshop and will figure it out.

The specific type of AI adjustment that you want to do determines how you can find the features in Lightroom Classic. For example, the first item in that video "Darken Beard" requires you to select a photo with a person (who has a beard) and then go into the Develop Module (press D) and then turn on Masking (it is the circular icon), then select under People the features (like beard or facial skin) or any other feature that LrC finds. Then you can lighten or darken or change the color tone or make any other edits you want to the beard or other features. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=espsAX0sLcE for a good tutorial.

Other types of AI require other steps. Which is why we keep asking what you will be doing. We can't provide a general tutorial on all AI steps because they are all different. We cannot simply say "Click here in this one spot" and then you get all of the AI features.

I understand that there are different tools for different actions.  I appreciate the link you have provided and I will start from there.

The original video you posted is for Lightroom (LR) vs Lightroom Classic  (LrC) that you seem to be using.

Most tools should be in both versions but the look and feel of the user interface for each is completely different.

(there are still some features of Lightroom Classic that are not available in Lightroom)

The video that dj_paige posted is for Lightroom Classic and shows things step by step rather than just jumping around showing new AI features.

Make sure your future help video searches contain "Lightroom Classic" to keep you on the right track.

It occurs to me that learning the AI tools first is not really a good way to learn Lightroom Classic. There are a lot of basics that you should master before you get into the AI tools. And there are a lot of YouTube videos that cover the basics. Make sure you are searching for Lightroom Classic tutorials and not Lightroom tutorials (as stated by @bhousto90 )

In years past, I used Lightroom as a hobby but put it aside for several years.  I'm back in the photography hibby game again and a lot has changed. I'm grateful for tutorials.
