P: Images with keyword disappears after edit in Photoshop

Hello,

not sure if this has allready been mentioned. 

When I fill in a keyword that has for example 2 psd-images, click on the arrow to view the 2 images and edit one in Photoshop. Then I save the image and return to Lightroom to see that the image has dissapeared. I can still see there are 2 images with that specific keyword but I am not able to see the image I just edited in Photoshop. 

One solution is restarting Lightroom, but it's quite annoying to keep restarting Ligtroom every time.

Anyone with a similar problem or a fix maybe? I am using a Macbook Pro with all the latest updates.

I see the same bug. Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to Library Grid view and select All Photographs in the Catalog panel.

2. Select a raw photo and assign the keyword XXX to it.

3. In the Keyword List, hover over XXX and click the arrow to the right of it, open the Metadata browser's Keyword column with XXX selected.

4. In the Metadata browser, click the dropdown menu next to Keyword and change the column to Edit.

5. In the Metadata browser, click the dropdown menu again and change the column back to Keyword, and select XXX.

6. Do Photo > Edit In > Edit In Photoshop and then save the file from Photoshop.

7. Observe that in the both the Metadata > Keyword column and in the Keyword List, XXX now shows a count of 2, but only the original raw is showing, not the PSD or TIFF saved by PS.

8. Restart LR.

9. Observe that the PSD or TIFF is now shown in Grid view.

The problem doesn't occur when using the Text filter Caption Contains Words XXX.

I've attached a screen recording of these steps.  Tested on LR 11.1 / Mac OS 11.6.

Another workaround, which doesn't require restarting LR, is to use the Any Tag plugin's Filter By Keyword command rather than clicking the arrow to the right of the keyword in the Keyword List.

However John, what you are reproducing is not exactly what I mean. I have also made a screen recording. That will show better what I mean (Sorry for the Photoshop part in the Dutch language. The only thing I do is save the image.

This looks like a very, very old bug that was there since Lightroom 4 or so... I mostly work with keywords for my main selections. So working on a series a keyword filter is applied. When editing in Photoshop a TIFF )or PSD file is created (before editing in Ps or afterwards in the newer LrC versions). Keywords are correctly assigned to that new file, but Lightroom does not 'see' that there is a new file matching the keyword filtering. Work-around I always use: switch filters off and apply them again, the new file will show up then. Maybe this can help resolving this very old bug...!!

@Sjmeets As a work-around you don't need to restart Lightroom, switching the (keyword) filtering off and enabeling it again also works! I use that workaround since I ran up into this bug years ago in Lightroom 3 or so...

Hello Ruurd, I tried this but it doesn't work for me. If I remove the filter word and then type it again the photo does not pop up.

What works for me is (in Library Module):

• Switching off filters via the pop-up menu on the right side just above the filmstrip (filters off),
• Re-apply the filter by clicking the arrow right next to the keyword in the keyword list, not using the keyword panel.

Updating missing status

Hi.

My current workflow in LR: Importing RAW files in LR. Tagging them with keywords. Pre-editing them in LR. Final-editing them in PS by clicking "Edit in - Photoshop 2023". Simply saving them with "CTRL+S". Usually it then displays the edited PSD file in LR and also creates a stack.

I do get a stack, but nothing happens, when I try to open the stack by clicking on the badge. I tried to mess around with the filters: When I'm deactivating all the Filters ("no filter") it indeed shows the correct stack and also both pictures (pre-edit and final edit). It's only when I'm using the keyword function again (say to sort all the holiday pictures and only see the picutres of day 1) when the stack suddently again seems broken and it doesn't display both pictures. Also it displays the correct number of photos (including the edited ones) in the top filter but not on the small "keywords" panel on the right sind. The "keywords" panel always misses that one picture I just edited and saved. 

One solution I found was to manually untag and then again retag these pictures. If I do this, the stack then seems to work properly when I sort all the pictures with this tag. A restart of LR also seems to update the folder correctly and the stack then get's displayed correctly.

Any idea what may causes this problem?
