imported photos are just blurred lines

Recently inherited a laptop with much better speed and capabilities than my old one, I installed LR and PS on it and this morning I tried to import some pictures I took yesterday. When they are uploaded they are distorted and blurred lines. I imported a few on my old laptop to make sure it wasnt a card issue and they are fine on old computer. Anyone else have this issue before?

Try going to the Performance tab of the Preferences dialogue and turning off the use of the Graphics Processor.
