I can not import .jpeg and .mp4 files into Lightroom since the last update (lightroom classic v 14.01, running on Windos 10 on my PC)
I still can import .NEF and .DNG files.
Is this a known bug or can it be aan setting issue in my system?

What happens when you try to import JPG and MP4 files? Please describe in detail. If possible, show us a screen capture (use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply; do NOT attach files)

Description of the process:
+ open lightroom (version 14.01)

+ select the sources (in my case *.jpeg and *.mp4 files in directory "tijdelijk/lightroom-input" of the hard disc" ) see left site of the screen
+ choose "copy" on top of the screen
+ choose destination place on my hard disc (right site of the screen)
+ start import (click on "import button" bottom right site of the screen)
+ next screen:
* top left site: "copy and import files": nothing happens there
* in the middle of the screen: "importing files ...."
+ after 10 minutes nothing happens
+ click on X right from "copy and import files" (see top left site on the screen)
+ next screen: white rectangle with the text: "No photos or videos were found to import"and a button "OK"
+ click on button "ok".
+ next screen: white rectangle with text: "No smart previous were built, all smart previews were up to date"and button "ok"
+ click on "ok"
+ Result: No files were imported !!!!!
ISSUE: when I follow this process above trying to import *.DNG or *.NEF files, Result: these file are imported.
Result

This is more or less my problem also. Its abeen a few days of trying different things reading stuff on line. Yesterday I decided to start a new catalogue and see if that works. I have all my images on an external hard drive in date order folders. I am also using windows 10 (without the ability to upgrade to w11 btw) and was wondering if the new update for LR has caused an issue for W10 users? Anyway, starting a new catalogue it identified a few folders and started to import files (very slowly) then went back to the problem decribed above - "copy & import files" and nothing happening - these files are raw files (psd) and jpegs. LR seems slow to start and I have noticed that if I go into Task Manager (ctl/alt/dlete) it shows multiple LR apps open with the main one showing very high memory usage. I dlete that one and the rewst disappear also and I have to restart LR and go through the same issue trying to import.

I have the same issue. Win10 Upgraded to 14.0.1. The screen ends with Importing files but nothing happens. I even reinstalled LE Classsic and no difference. My task manager behaves the same but if I close LR there is still a post in TM for LR. I have tried several solutions but still the same. If I stop the importprocess in LR upper left corner - press the x. I recieve a dialogbox saying "No photos or videos were found to import"
This must be a bug as it worked fine before upgrading and now I am stuck with LR.
I manage as I can work further in Affinity but it´s annoying that LR is out of order.

Two things to check:
"Don't import suspected duplicates" on the right side of the Import dialog box, is it checked? If it is, try unchecking it.
In the Preferences, have you checked "Treat JPG next to RAW files as separate photos"? If unchecked, try checking it.

'If I understand your workflow correctly, you are:
I must misunderstand, can you correct me. If you were to outside of LrC, to place the files in a folder on a hard drive, why not place them in the folder you want the LrC imports to be in, and during import, select Add.
I suspect this may not relate to your video issue. but it is kind of confusing. Also, see if the change in workflow helps or not.
Place this under the concept of something sounds wrong.

I did try to import a jpeg file by using te ADD option (before that I did copy the file to the Lightroom directory I wanted to use). RESULT: the file was not imported in te Lightroom catalog.
My conclusion: the new lightroom version (14.01) has a large bug. I simply can not inport .jpeg ( the same for .mp4) anymore. HELP

I don't know what the issue is, but it is something on your computer, and not a bug in Lightroom Classic. No other LrC user is complaining about this. They all can import JPGs.

I also complain and I have read quit a few other users having this issue. Some manage to import a certain number and the it´s stop. AND it worked fine, the same computer and settings with the earlier version.

An old, never proved, bug or oddity in LrC, when Add fails, is to bring up Import, select Copy, select one new photo, and over in the destination, select a folder, ignoring what was already selected. then see if Import works.
Issue is, LrC normally has in the Destination, what was selected previously. If that destination is no longer valid, then the Import will fail, and in the case of Add, without a proper error message. Strange that Add would trip over a destination that should not be needed, but yep, it can occur.
So give that a try. Just a few minutes wasted if it fails.
