In LR Classic is there a way to save snapshots to more than one image at a time?

the short of it:

Is there a way to save snapshots (develop settings for a particular photo) to a selection of images instead of just one?

the long of it:

Snapshots is a great feature that lets me save a “snapshot” of my develop settings at that time for a photo. I use it compare edits I make to an image, for b/w versions, varied crops, and many other uses.

In particular it’s saved me more than once when the develop settings for a photo will reset without explanation. I don’t know what causes it and Undo feature skips undoing the reset develop settings so it strikes me as a bug. (May be my PaletteGear editing knobs that might be the cause.) Thankfully it’s rare but it does happen, probably a dozen times this year, and can be a big problem to have those settings cleared for some images, leaving me with only the flattened exported JPEGs that I'll never be able to preceisly match in LR again.

This is the first main reason I’d love the ability to save snapshots (using the default title as name) for a selection of images. I’d hope to be able to do this for all of my images.

Secondly, before I send images to Photoshop from LR I always save a snapshot of 1. the image’s develop settings at the time. Which is usually quick-n-dirty preview image I sent to client. Then 2. again for the revised preview image, carefully straightenrf up lines, more time spent on it, etc. 3. And again when I reduce reduce negate whites and blacks to reduce any clipping of details before I send to photoshop for retouching.

Having the ability to save multiple snapshots at once would save me a lot of time, so hopefully it’s possible. Thanks for your input!

Have a look at the plugin linked below.  It might do what you're asking.

I don't think this is something you can blame on Lightroom Classic. No one else that I can remember has ever reported anything like this.

Please save us some time and effort and tell us what you have tried to obtain snapshots for many images.

Also, are virtual copies a good solution here?

Hi, thanks for your time here.

I'm not blaming Lightroom, I'm simply stating what's happening.

"Please save us some time and effort and tell us what you have tried to obtain snapshots for many images."

Unclear what you're asking:

1. "tell us *why you have tried to obatain snapshots for that many images?"

2. "tell us what you have tried *to do so far to obtain snapshots for many images?"

3. asking something else entirely?

Please clarify to save me time and effort 😉

If anything's unclear or can be improved for my next post, let me know. Thanks again for your time

Hi Ian, that's a great find and looks to be exactly what I'm looking for. It says "LR 3.0 and later" so hoping it's been updated in the last decade. Will report back when I try this week. Thanks for chiming in!
