Issues importing DCP presets into LR 12.4

Hi everyone,

This seems like a topic that has continued to show up since LR's updates over the last few years. But despite scouring the internet for a solution and spending far too much time moving files to various folders, adjusting permissions on my computer and in LR, I am still unable to view the DCP presets (old VSCO presets) I'm attempting to transfer.

When importing they go to this folder:
Librabry > Application Support > Adobe > Camera Raw > Camera Profiles > Import

From there they do not show up.

I have:

- Gone into my Mac's system preferences > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access > Added LR
- Gone into my LR's preferences > Presets > selected show Partially compatible develop presets

- Gone into my macs Library > Application Support > Adobe > Camera RAW > Imported Settings (where every other import of mine lives > and pasted these files within a folder in there (and have also pasted them without a folder in there)

All of which has still resulted in me being unable to see or find these presets within LR when it is open.
Any support on how to navigate the importing of DCP presets would be suuuuper apprecaited!

Thank you!

"When importing they go to this folder: Librabry > Application Support > Adobe > Camera Raw > Camera Profiles > Import"

That is the wrong folder nowadays. They should not be stored anymore in the Library folder that is in the root of Macintosh HD, but in the same path in the User Library folder, so Macintosh HD > Users > YourUserName > Librabry > Application Support > Adobe > Camera Raw > Camera Profiles. Note that this Library folder is hidden by default, so if you need to know how to unhide it: https://www.techbout.com/open-library-folder-mac-22572/

Please note that these are camera profiles, not presets! So make sure you ste looking for them in the correct place.

Hi Johan,

I'm on a mac! I've never had an issue finding my hidden librabry folder as that has been one of the first steps that every support mentions I follow for this very issue.

When I follow this same path ~/Library >  Users/"my name">Libabry >Application Support > Adobe > Camera RAW > Camera Profiles it does bring me to the "Imported" folder as being the final folder within that chain which is where my camera profiles are ending up and still now showing up.

Here are screenshots of the sequence I am following:

Then I go to Application support

  Select Adobe

 Select Camera Raw

 Select Camera Profiles

Then this is the final folder

And this is where the imported profiles land when I import them via LR (however, they do not show up)

I have pasted the entire folder in here and I have pasted profiles individually in here and they still do not appear.
LR only states that they have been imported.

So where are you looking for them in Lightroom Classic? You were talking about presets, but profiles are selected elsewhere. Also note that these profiles are camera-specific. They will only show if you have selected a raw file from that particular camera. As I am typing this on my iPad, I can not post a screenshot.

They're DCP files, there's a screenshot attached for reference. I'm not sure if it's a preset or a profile.
You noted it was a profile which is why I then referred to it as a profile.

I'm using a Mark IV and the profiles are set for Mark IV. They just are not showing up on the right hand column where they used to show up and they're not showing up under the profile drop down (the right hand column).

Sure, these are from a different present pack, presets archipelago
The ones I'm trying to import are from VSCO (one that's long been off the market).
They work with older versions of LR but I'm trying to avoid going on my old computer and simply importing them into the newer version.

And just to follow up, I can find these profiles within my library.
I thought simply pasting the profiles I'm wanting into that same folder would do the trick, but they still don't appear.
I can't tell if it's just that the file is no longer accepter or what.

This is a screenshot of your presets panel! That is the panel on the left side (if you did not switch the panels for left handed people). Profiles are part of the Basic panel on the right.

OK, I think I know what is going on. As far as I know, the VSCO presets were a combination of presets and profiles. You only installed the profiles so far, and now you are looking in vain at the presets panel. There should also be presets (probably of the old .lrtemplate kind). You can't install these directly, but they can be converted to the current .xmp type presets. Read this (although I am not sure if this refers to the old presets or newer ones:

I will definitely check this out -- just seeing this, apologies !

I'll let you know if this works, this makes complete sense though.

You didn't attach another screenshot, but the last screenshot in your previous message shows a profile named 'Canon EOS 5D Fuji 160C 2c.dcp'. Are you sure that is a profile that is compatible with the 5D mark IV? The file name suggests it might be for the oldest EOS 5D.

Hi Johan,

That is a screenshot of my right panel, with the profiles. I relize it looks similar to presets but it's not the same thing.
I'll provide a wider screenshot for your reference.

Screen Shot 2023-10-07 at 10.50.38 AM.png

For further clarity, the profiles I am trying to import are the same profiles I used on this exact camera body years ago.
They are compatible. And even if they weren't compatible they would still show up within lightroom they would just be dull (grey) instead of white (showing the profile is compatible with the file) -- the same way my leica M10 profile shows up for my Mark IV files but defaults to a standard profile if applied (rather than the camera's actual profile).

The screenshot shows (look below the image) that the image you have selected is a TIFF file, not a RAW file. DCP profiles are for raw files only, that is why they don't show in this situation.

Hey Johan,

I was hoping you wouldn't note on that as I had just imported some Tiff scans from my lab. This image just happened to be on my screen and is unrelated to my issue as most of the file types im discussing editing are my CR2 RAW files not my film scans.

the issue persists

I understand your frustration with importing DCP presets into Lightroom. It's a common issue that many photographers face. Let's try a few more steps to see if we can resolve this. Firstly, double-check that the DCP presets you're trying to import are in a compatible format for Lightroom, as sometimes presets can be in a format that Lightroom doesn't recognize. After making adjustments, consider restarting Lightroom, as sometimes changes take effect only after a fresh start. Also, ensure that the presets are organized correctly within the Camera Raw folder, matching the format that Lightroom expects. As a last resort, you can try backing up your Lightroom preferences and then resetting them to their default settings, as this can sometimes resolve stubborn issues. If these steps still don't solve your problem, it might be worth reaching out to Adobe's support or the VSCO community for more specific guidance, as they may have encountered and resolved this issue before. Best of luck, and I hope you can successfully import those presets!
