Lightroom 14.1.1 crashes seconds after opening

When I launch LrC, it opens fine. I can look at an image or two and then it crashes. I have used it daily for months with no problems. It worked fine this morning. This afternoon it keeps crashing. I am running the latest verison of LrC and have updated my GPU divers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled LrC. I have deleted preferences. I have rebooted after each change. Nothing fixes the issue. Here is what my system looks like:

What changes might have happened to your computer? Windows update? LrC update? Other apps installed?

It's aways a good idea the reset the LrC preferences when the app starts doing strange things.

I always recommend checking to see if there is an update to your video driver at nvidia.com.

Nothing changed from this morning to this afternoon. At 5:30 am it worked
perfectly. At 1 PM it did not. Windows did not update. LrC did not update.
I have the latest update to my nVidia driver (Dec 2024). I reset LrC
preferences. I uninstalled and reinstalled LrC.

Do you install the "Studio Version" of the NVidia driver or the "Game Ready" version? It's recommended to use the Studio Version.

 

If you have buldin a CPU with an internal graphic processor disable the processor internal graphic card.

To disable  use the Device Manager on Windows. In the Device Manager, right-click the card's name and choose Disable.

Yes, disable the Intel GPU.

Also, when installing new nvidia drivers, you should check the box "Perform a Clean Installation?" That gets rid of any junk from earlier drivers.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Microsoft’s?

Yes, this is the correct email. There were several crash dialog notices
related to Adobe. I clicked the send option. At one point I got an endless
"sending" message, but nothing happened. I was very frustrated and did not
pay much attention. If it happens again, I will pay more attention.

  • Is that laptop, when you use LrC, overheating? Are the fans reving up?
  • Is that laptop plugged into the power outlet, or on battery?

Yes, a laptop. Yes, fan revs and it gets warm before crashing. It does not matter if I am plugged in or on battery.
