Lightroom 14.5+ Not Using GPU (Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti) – Forced to Work on CPU Only

New Here ,
Sep 06, 2025 Sep 06, 2025

Since updating to Lightroom 14.5 and 14.5.1, Lightroom no longer uses my GPU — neither my dedicated Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti nor my integrated GPU. The GPU selection options are completely grayed out, with no way to change or enable them.

Because of this, Lightroom is now entirely relying on my CPU, which makes it extremely slow, especially when processing a large batch of photos or applying Denoise AI.

I had no choice but to roll back to version 14.4, where everything works perfectly and both GPUs are properly recognized and utilized.

Here are a few details about my setup:

  • Dedicated GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti (latest driver)

  • CPU and integrated GPU: Intel Core i7-9750H, Intel UHD Graphics 630

  • OS: Windows 11

  • My system fully supports DirectX 12

I have tried:

  • Reinstalling the latest Nvidia drivers

  • Rolling back to previous GPU drivers

  • Restarting Lightroom and my system

  • Switching between Studio and Game Ready drivers

Unfortunately, nothing has worked so far.

Has anyone else experienced this issue since the 14.5 update?

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I just reinstalled Lightroom 14.5.1 to try your suggestions, but it worked automatically, I didn’t have to do anything. Lightroom is now recognizing my GPU without any issues. The last time I tried to reinstall this version, it didn’t work at all, but this time, everything works!

Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions, I really appreciate your help!

Try to disable the processor internal graphic card. This internal GPU can sometimes caused several issues. Open the Windows Device Manager, right-click the card's name and choose Disable.

In addition to @AxelMatt  suggestion you may also need to reset the GPU Config test that LrC does each time the application is launched. You can do so using the following steps:

  1. Quit Lightroom Classic.

  2. Locate the Camera Raw GPU Config.txt file.

    • (macOS) /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/GPU/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic/Camera Raw GPU Config.txt
    • (Windows) \Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\GPU\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic\Camera Raw GPU Config.txt

On macOS, the user Library folder is hidden by default in macOS X 10.7 and later releases. Use the directions here.
On Windows, the AppData folder may be hidden. To view the hidden folder on Windows 10, open File Explorer and from the top menu bar, select View and enable the checkbox for hidden items in Show/hide section. For Windows 11 users, open File Explorer and from the top menu bar, select View > Show > Hidden items.

  3. Manually delete the Camera Raw GPU Config.txt file.

  4. Relaunch Lightroom Classic.

If Axel's and Ian's suggestions don't help, please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.  Also, include a full-resolution screenshot (not a phone pic) of the Preferences > Performance window.
