Lightroom 5 crashes after Update to MacOS High Sierra

Hello everyone,

I work with LR5 since OS-X Mavericks without any problem. After the Update to High Sierra LR crashes every time when i try to use the "HSL / Colour / B&W" tool.

Have any one else this problem too? Updating to LR Classic or LR CC is no opinion for me. I wouldn´t pay month for month for a software I´m using only for my hobby.

thx

Benny

Exactly same issue for me with LR5.4 and installation High Sierra on Macbook. I cannot use HSL / Colour / B&W" tool and reverse selecting tool with option key. Did you find solution without updating version?

Thanks

Same issue for me as well! I have LR downloaded on my (not off the CC) High Sierra on a year-old MacBook Pro and every time I click the HSL/Colour/B&W it shuts down and keeps failing to reopen

emilee, see the link in "correct answer" - the solution you'llfind there that worked was

I was finally able to fix all my problems:

To fix the crashing at launching Lightroom issue, I just had to grant Read & Write permissions to Lightroom.app for every account on my MacBook (System, Admin, Everyone, and even adding [UserName]).

And to fix the crashing at opening Preferences issue, I just had to hold the Shift + Option keys while launching Lightroom.

but there are other solutions there you could try also.  If none work, I suggest starting a new request, include app version, and listing everything you've tried to date.

Your solution is not applicable to our problem.

Changing parameters on HSL panel --> Lightroom crashes suddenly: this is it; no other problem but this very huge and bad one.

Hopefully a miracle will solve our ethernal issue, thanks !

I just experienced this issue, and I tried the correct answer as a solution, but this did not work for me. I am about to have a lot of editing work with deadlines and I need to get this fixed. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm not a Mac/Sierra user but my suggestion is to start a new thread, giving your exact versions of LR and Sierra and a clear description of the problem, and what you've attempted so far to fix it. There seems to be a mixture of issues in this thread.

Lightroom Quit Unexpectedly on macOS High Sierra - this thread has several fixes the most notable being upgrading to the newest possible version, granting permissions to all Sierra folders and deactivating GPU support.

Hi everyone,

It seems I found a workaround.

Instead of switching between Hue, Luminance and Saturation, select the "all" option (see screenshot).

Screen Shot 2018-07-26 at 16.03.12.png

When you try and select "all", Lightroom will crash as usual but when you restart it "all" will be selected and you will be able to change HSL levels in the "all" view without Lightroom crashing.

I hope this works for you folks.

Cheers,

Bastien
