I am running Windows 10 and Lightroom 6.0 with all updates. Three days ago I went to use LR and it loads to the splash screen and immediately closed. I have not been able to get it to work since.
I have done multiple things to solve it, ending in uninstalling and reinstalling from my disk. That did not fix it. I uninstalled and searched thru all folders on my drives to delete all folders for Lightroom. I have saved my catalog as old. I even went thru the registery to find and possibly delete entries. Did not find any needing deletion.
Reinstalling still does not work. Launching Lightroom gets a little farther. It fully loads just past the splash screen, showing all proper areas of the screen, then it closes.
I am at a loss as to what to do next. It's as if there's a time limit for my version and it's up!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I performed all this before I uninstalled. Nothing worked.
After uninstalling LR, I deleted all folders for lightroom including preferences, fonts, etc.
Reinstalling still didn't work.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

There is no listing for Lightroom Perpetual Licenced version 6.0. So where do you recommend I post this? The cloud version or classic version?

The folder that your catalog is in, can you share a screen capture of the files and folders located their?

When you took that screen capture of your folder, was LrC running successfully? If not, then notice that lock file that exist. If LrC was properly closed, then that lock file should not exist. That lock file gets created when you open a catalog, removed when you close. It exists to prevent opening multiple instances of a catalog. If LrC crashed, or was forced to quit, then the lock file gets left behind and prevents opening the catalog. Supposedly an error message should pop up, but...

LrC was not running at the time I captured the data. I moved the .lock files to Trash then opened LrC. It closed itself about 3 seconds after opening. Looking at the folder, it created another .lock file. I guess it crashed itself for some reason.

I felt I should also say: the Lightroom Catalog 2 is my original catalog. The other catalog is what is created when installing LrC. It is not used by me. Right now, everytime it crashes, it is using the catalog made when installed. This is the third time I've uninstalled, cleaned out all files and folders I could find for LrC and then reinstalled. (Later I will have to figure out how to get all the updates I'm missing.)
Thanks for your help!

Rename or move the catalog, as it may be corrupted.

First, the catalog was new as I just re installed LrC after deleting all files and folders that had anything to do with LrC. I did as you suggested. I deleted the catalog files including the .journal file. NO change. LrC loads and 3 seconds later it crashes, leaving the .lock file. The only place I have not messed is the registry. I could only find two entries for LrC and they delt with id of files in windows.

Lightroom 6 is obsolete and unsupported. You may need to migrate to Lightroom Classic for compatibility.

I know it's no longer supported, that's why I'm in the Community to find an answer.
I don't use LrC enough to subscribe and pay forever. I will find an alternative. My main purpose for using LrC is to view all photos in a folder to select the best photos, where each folder is photos submitted by a different person. It's more difficult using Bridge and Photoshop.
I guess it does have a built in termination date!

There are many free organizers. Lightroom Classic can be used for free, it just won't be able to process RAW photos.

A comment on- "Lightroom Classic can be used for free," - Applies only having had a 12month subscription that was later cancelled (with possible penalties!)
LrC will not work as limited for free from a trial only.
Adobe Bridge has a View menu item -[Show items from sub-folders] to view all photos (from multiple sub-folders), BUT I just tried it and it keeps crashing my Bridge App.!!! I thought I had seen it work previously.
I suggest that if @GaryKuep has a subscription for the Photography Plan then a full 'clean' of all Adobe 'stuff' using the CC Cleaner App, then a fresh re-install of the CC Desktop App and then LrC. ADOBE CLEANER TOOL

I am tempted to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, but have a question. I am not having any problems with Ps 6.0. Will the cleaner affect other Adobe apps? I only have a problem with LrC 6.0.

I am using Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 22H2 (build 19045.4046). My GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730. I cannot find the GPU driver version. My catalog and all data/photo files are on my E: drive, 6TB internal. Anti Virus is Microsoft Defender. Adobe Creative Cloud was offered via email (I think) and I installed it a couple of years ago.
Have not had a problem till about 2 weeks ago. LrC 6.0 on my laptop works fine, but the hard drive is too small.
My problem appeared suddenly. One day I powered up my pc and went to use LrC and it immediately crashed. It hasn't worked since. Since it is no longer supported, the Community is my only hope!

Perhaps, after giving more thought, you should not use the Cleaner tool as you have an old version of Photoshop also installed.
In the Cleaner menu of options- the selections for 'Clean up' might have changed from what I remember. IIRC Lightroom (that included v6) was once listed, but not now.
As you mentioned you may have installed Creative Cloud in the past- John Ellis has a suggestion at DELETE CREATIVE CLOUD for Lightroom 6 that might be of interest.
There are now so many 'hurdles' to overcome for Lr6, even re-activating an install may not be possible. It makes good sense to subscribe to the Photography Plan 20GB. My rough calculations compared the cost of the 'old' perpetual Lr and Ps with the current cost of the Photography Plan, and the result was that it will take 11 years of Plan subscriptions to equal the 'one off' cost of the perpetual licences. And now we can have upgrades every 3 months or so. I understand the resistance to a subscription, but the cost benefit is immense.

Thanks for the warning to not use CC cleaner. As for cost, I only have about $480 invested in my software. I bought Elements $80 and received an offer for Ps/Lr for $200. Then after awhile, another $200 to upgrade to Ps6/Lr6. And that was several years ago, maybe 8 or more years. That's why I would really like to stay with Lr6.
I tried to uninstall Creative Cloud but couldn't. It says other apps depend on it. Lr6 was already uninstalled. I really don't want to uninstall all Adobe apps. I wouldn't be able to get all the updates, since it's no longer supported. (I checked on updates for Lr6 - not available.)
It looks like I will have to find another Raw editor similar to Lr or subscribe.
Thanks for all your help!

In hind site, your GPU driver version should not matter, it could for LrC v13 as Adobe heavy leverages the GPU for many items. But that old v6 should be happy with old GPU's and old GPU drivers. And a NVIDIA GT 730 should be fine.

As your Lr6 has not changed, has not updated, has not upgraded, the question is probably what has changed on you computer, and what problems other than Lr have occurred on your computer, any crash, any refusal to boot, ant call by Windows at boot to fix something, a hard drive die?

I haven't had any problems with anything on my pc except for Lr6. No problems with programs, data, hardware, or anything! The last thing done with my pc was upgrading the memory about 4 years ago and installing a larger SSD drive for my C: drive about 2 years ago.
