Hi everybody,
I recently bought a Sony A 7 II and tried to import the RAW-data (ARW-files) into Lightroom version 6.
This worked as usual but I can not develop the files. I got the message "The file is either not supported or is demaged" ("Die Datei wird entweder nicht unterstützt oder ist beschädigt").
I suppose my Lightroom version can not handle the camera software.
My questions:
Thanks in advance guys.
Regards,
Michael

What version of LR are you using? You can find out from the menu:
Help >> About Lightroom…..
Have the files been added to a folder using Sony or other software before import into Lightroom?
If so try shooting a couple of new raw files, connect the camera or card reader and bring straight into LR. Let us know if that makes a difference.

The camera type is correct (Sony A 7 II).
I can import the photos but I cannot use the photo in the Develop module.
I noticed, I am using Lightroom version 6.0 ... An update should help. 🙂
Do you know, where I can get the latest Lightroom 6 version?

If you have typed the model of your camera correctly, "Sony A 7 II", then you should be able to read the files using Lightroom 6.
Are you saying you can import the photos but you cannot use the photo in the Develop module?

Are the Sony files the only ones that you can't edit in the develop module? Can you apply quick edits when you are importing? Can you convert the raw files to DNG? Does the Lr version you are using have this Sony model in the profile? Can you open the Sony Raw files in Photoshop?

Please confirm the version number of your Lightroom. Go to Help->System Info and report back the version number of Lightroom you see there.

Problem solved.
The German Lightroom version shows "Ausführungen", which not necessarily means "updates". It could mean "executions", "variations" or the like. Thatswhy I didn't find it.
Thanks for your help!
