Lightroom 7.2 Slow on Import

Explorer ,
Mar 11, 2018 Mar 11, 2018

Following on from 7.1, 7.01 and 6 Lightroom is still painfully slow on import.

Adobe keep bringing out updates to fix this issue but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I thought it was perhaps the size of my database but I archived it off and started again.

Is this a common issue?

How slow? Be specific. How many photos (and what size are they) are imported in how many minutes?

How do you know this isn't a hardware issue, a bad card reader, bad USB cable, bad USB port, etc?

Sloooooow!

Way slower than it used to be.

There is nothing wrong with the hardware.

Simply saying there is nothing wrong with the hardware is not the same as actually checking the hardware to determine if anything/nothing is wrong. So, I repeat my question: how do you know? "Way slower than it used to be" is a sign that the hardware is having more trouble.

Because everything else works. Copy and pasting files on and off the computer is fast.

Importing into Lightroom is slooooooow.

I take it from with what you saying there is nothing wrong with the current Lightroom version and the importing is as quick as it should be.

You have no issues and are completely satisfied with your import times.

And yet, I never said that at all.

I'm having the same trouble. The other day it took over 4 hours to import 2 and half thousand photos. Today it took almost 3 hours to import just over 2000. I had to go onto my laptop to work so my desktop could just do that.

Otherwise it slows everything down on my computer to a crawl. I can't do anything else on the computer while it is importing.

It was never like this before. It is driving me nuts. I'm thinking of not using Lightroom anymore for this reason.
