Just a general comment . One of Lightrooms strengths was that it was simple. If I wanted to do something complex I would do it in Photoshop. You had general adjustments by sliders and then more specific adjustments with things like the brush tool or filters. I can't understand why adobe interfered with this in the latest version. By expanding capability they've made it less simple and buried the functionality one layer lower than it was. It's now under "masking" which is not a term beginners can associate with. It gets very confusing if you make and adjustment with a brush and then you want to make a second adjustment with a brush. Its becomes a muddle. Very poor user interface. All Lightroom needed was proper simple content aware eraser - still not available

Hi all I've had this on numerous Windows computers and am wondering if its normal behaviour and can it be adjusted. If I am in Library Mode and I press the right arrow key briefly once it moves to the next image. If I hold down the right arrow key for a few seconds it could scroll through hundreds of images and you can't stop it until it decides to reach the end. If you hold down the left key while trying to stop what the right key did it will after stopping go forward start shooting backwards at a rate of knots. Seems very stupid, I wouldn't mind if it jumped 10 or something but it just goes crazy fast through the images and lifting your finger doesn't stop it.

I've figured it out now. I think its a bit confusing and was simpler before. Adding functionality and in the process making old functionality different is not a great strategy. Thanks for the answer. It's correct

You may have given a correct answer but I'm struggling a little bit to not mask but actually adjust like you used to. I can only see options to create a mask as opposed to make a brush or filter adjustment. I may need to look at videos. I don't think it was a good idea to change it this way. It's going to confuse people.

I can't find the usual tools I had in Camera Raw Filter within Photoshop since I updated yesterday to latest Photoshop / Camera Raw / Lightroom. The tools are missing. Any idea what I need to do to get them back?

Hi I upgraded to the lastest version of Photoshop and Lightroom. There are numerous pop up messages declaring how wonderful it is. I am now getting a Welcome to Camera Raw 14.0 popup that I can't close. I can't see the close button, I can't scroll down to it (if its at the end of the pop-up) I can't close it or move it. This is Windows 10 - latest version of Photoshop and Lightroom and Camera Raw (as of 27 Oct 2021).

Very disappointing that Adobe would release a version that would do this. It must have been poorly tested not to notice this

Why does photoshop spend ages trying to save an image as a PSD to workout it can't be saved. Then you have to go back and saved it as a PSB. Why does it even stll have the PSD size restriction in 2021 or automatically save as PSB when a file is too big to be a PSD. The user just wants to save the file

I am having trouble with Photoshop 2021. The screen image is going grey. I can still see all the layers but any layer I display is just a screen of grey. I can open a second image and it looks fine. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have a small SSD drive 128GB where all the programs run off. It's not possible to increase its size. I have a second HDD drive. The issue I face is the SSD drive filling up. Windows is bloated, Nvidia drivers another issue, Photoshop old versions and plugins like Topaz and Nik (which seem to install all over the place). Can I delete folders containing older versions of the Photoshop (or at least folders labelled as that)? I've tried uninstalling in Add / Remove programs but they don't show up. I tried Adobes uninstall old versions tool but it doesn't seem to recognise the old versions. Perhaps they are partial installations. Can I just delete them? It's very unclear is there some data in the folders that the latest version uses.

I completely agree. If I copy the files across to the hard drive the copy quickly and then import them they import fast. If I import them direct from the memory card it takes forever. This is still happening with the latest version of Lightroom CC Classic. Its a fundamental part of the software. I can't understand why Adobe don't solve this issue. When you take your photos you want to work on them quickly. This slow uploading is a real irritation and a reason to change.

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. Twice today when I imported photographs into lightroom it was in mode add as opposed to Copy. This occured on two different computers. I was surprised. I never use Add as its dangerous. You think you have the photos on your PC/Laptop but they are still only on the card.

Thanks for all the replies. The reason why it matters is that the laptop I have has nowadays a relatively small SSD 128GB and a seperate hard drive. Windows and Adobe are on the SSD and both are bloated (plus NVIDIA Drivers). All those 500-600 MB adds up I think from your replies I can delete them and that potentially its intentional they are left there. For me its poor design when updating versions. All this data is left there and often plugins are not copied across. My next laptop I'll be making sure the SSD is big enough to cope with the ever expanding volume of operating systems and programs

Hi, I've lots of folders on my laptop which are old versions of Photoshop (2018, 2017, 2015.5, 2015) I've already run the Adobe Cleaner (which deleted the current version too so I have to reinstall that - what a crappy interface for 2018/2019). Add remove programs doesn't detect any versions of these. The folders are in Users / App data / Roaming / Adobe Also in Program Files / Adobe / there are folders. Can I manually delete these folders without crashing everything?

I have to say 7.3.1 is the most unstable of all the versions. I find it very frustrating to work with. The first time I open it , it almost always crashes. It uses way more system resources that a piece of software like that should I'm getting tired of Lightroom

Interesting I must check whether its set up to sync or not. I find 7.3.1 a complete dog of a lightroom version. Very slow importing photographs and forever freezing up and having to shut it down. Maybe I have unreasonable expectations but I expect when I upgrade my lightroom to the newest version that it just works. I think its getting more and more bloated as a piece of software and I'm starting to question its value at all.

Crashing for me all the time now on 7.3.1 It's never been perfect but its never been so bad or crash so often and quickly. I can process one or two photos and then it crashes freezing up. Should I revert to an earlier version or wait until 7.3.2 or 7.4.1?

After about 24 hours loading it just says its failed with no explanation or message as to what went wrong. It seems to be loading and it is connected to the Blurb website. Really that's pretty poor. The software should give some explanation when it fails or should give an indicator earlier its failing. I"m going to give up on the book module and never use it again. Whether its Blurb or Lightroom is the problem is unclear and as its a collaboration between both it should be clear. It's obviously still not up to scratch. Just on the point of adding more pictures to a book once it has been saved its far from straight forward. You have to set the book as a target collection and then go into your pictures highlight them and press B to send them to the target collection. It should be way more easy and obvious than that. In general I like lightroom but Adobe are really doing nothing significant with it. Now that its bundled with Photoshop anyway could they not put a proper correction tool on it (i.e. the Photoshop version)

Anyone recently created a book on the book module. I haven't for years. I found it very frustrating in the past and it was much easier to use Blurbs own upload program. Regrettably I've used it again for a very large book (240 pages). The whole design of the book module is rather on the stupid side and its surprising that its not been improved significantly Its just a poor design, there is no reason why, it should be easy to get it user friendly. It's symptomatic of Adobes reluctance to make Lightroom significantly better Once you save a book and come back to add more photographs its absolutely daft what you have to do to be able to add more photographs. It's like making it the most complicated and unintuitive way possible. Anyway in the end I did finish the book and can download as a PDF to the computer. My problem is uploading it to blurb. I can't tell if its frozen or not. It doesn't say (on a Mac) what % is loaded. It looks by the bar to be around 70% but its hard to tell if its stopped or moving. If its moving its at a snails pace. It's about 16 hours uploading now. My internet is not particularly fast but still 16 hours is a long time. Is there anything I can do to check that its not actually working and that it has stopped uploading and is just sitting there. It's not appear on the Blurb website. It did fail and give me to option to resume and it did seem to resume uploading but there has not been much movement for a few hours. Should I just give up?

I’m sure Lightroom works fine if you don’t take too many photos or have small files. I happen to take many photos with big megapixel cameras and Lightroom is getting poorer and poorer. The second last update was well recognised as being a dogs dinner of an upgrade which was quickly updated to fix some of them

I'm always curious with Lightroom when I load a raw picture that when you click it its momentarily more vibrant in colour and then colour tones dip. I'd love it to look like what it first looks like. Whats going on when it does that. It like as if Lightroom takes in the picture and automatically makes some adjustment to it but I've not setting like that on.

Adobe are making a dog's dinner of lightroom. It's resource hungry. It's intolerably slow and now extremely buggy. Hopefully the latest version is more stable. It just feels a really bloated piece of software which has stopped being good at what it was good for.

Because everything else works. Copy and pasting files on and off the computer is fast. Importing into Lightroom is slooooooow. I take it from with what you saying there is nothing wrong with the current Lightroom version and the importing is as quick as it should be. You have no issues and are completely satisfied with your import times.
