Lightroom cannot start because there is not enough room on the hard drive

Where does LR store temporary files? I need to delete them since I am getting an error message to say: "LR nneds space on this druve for temporary files. Please make at least 20 MB available on this HD before starting LR" and am unable to open. It started because I attempted to export a large number of files via 'burn full-size JPGs' to DVD-R and it must have stored a huge amount of temporary data on my C drive in the process of preparing files to export. Is there a way I can set the default to store temporary files to the Ex HD where my LR catalogue is held since there is >5 TB free storage on there or does it have to use C drive storage? In the meantime I cannot open LR until I free up some space on my C drive - think the easiest way to do that is to find the temp files created by LR and delete them (although I'd rather not have to do this since it took half a day to prepare them for export)

Cheers

I found them. If anyone else runs into same problem, they are stored in Users/\Local Settings\Application Data\Temp\

What are these temp files that you say took so much time to prepare?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. When I set the command to burn to full-size JPGs onto a DVD, it took a long time to 'prepare the files for export' - assume this involves creating temporary files and is why LR will not open since there is not enough space on C drive to store more temporary files...
