Lightroom Classic CC not working, lots of bugs?!?!?!?! Help!

Hello!

I had lots of problems with Lightroom Classic CC about 6 months ago, it took a while (with the help of this Forum) to have it working properly, but now it is almost impossible to use it, Radial & Gradient filters, Adjustment brush not working properly, and now the Histogram is not available.

What's going on here? What's going on with Adobe? They sale their products, we pay for it, but we don't have it!

I am a photographer and I can't edit my photos. I work on a PC Dell XPS 15.

Please help me!!!!

If you are doing a lot of brushing, this is a common problem, and is caused by one or more of these issues (may not be a complete list)

  • Doing lots of spot healing or brushing on an individual photo
  • GPU turned on (should be turned off)
  • Large image sizes (in megapixels, not megabytes)
  • Large monitors, 4K or larger
  • Slow CPU

Do any of those apply here?

To turn the Histogram on in the Develop Module, go to the Window Menu, and you should be able to select Histogram.

Saying "not working properly" doesn't really give us any useful information. Describe the problem in detail.

Also, is the histogram not showing (is that what you mean by "not available") in the Develop Module or the Library Module?

I'm going to try and be more specific. When working with the Radial &

Gradient Filters and Adjustment Brush it takes a long while so I can see

the editing I'm making, but sometimes it just stop working when I'm using

these tools, and I have to restart LR.

This morning when I opened LR and try to do some editing the Histogram was

not available in the Develop Module.

more than that, even to go from your picture to other, LR is acting too

slowly.

When I had problems with LR before, I was told here in the forum to turn

the Graphics Processor on, should I turn it off now?

Throwing in my ideas- as an XPS (laptop) user!

Dell PCs are always Windows-PC TBMK

Depending on Windows version- Find your Operating system details from-

Start Screen > type "System" > [About]

Or type "Control Panel" > [System & Security] > [System]

Report Windows version, RAM size, Available empty memory.

Are you running Lightroom-Classic v 8.2?

Report your version of Lightroom-

Menu: Help > System Info...

and Copy & Paste the first 10 or so lines of the report in your post.

Graphics Processor on/off?

That depends on several things (age of computer, etc)

Generally not needed for screens like 1920x1080, but might benefit a 4K screen.

My Dell XPS13 laptop (1920x1080) currently has GPU turned 'on' and Lr works well.

My 'old' XPS15 laptop (?) had to have GPU turned 'off' and also needed Graphics Driver updates.

Missing Histogram panel-

Is the Histogram Header line visible- just toggle the spinner triangle.

Nothing at all showing- Maybe a corrupt install of Lightroom.

With all your reported problems it could be best to-

Try first resetting preferences - How to set Lightroom Classic CC preferences

Last resort- Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to wipe (un-install) adobe programs from your computer, Then re-install, starting with the Desktop App.

(You do have backups of Catalog, etc, right?)

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

If you do lots of brushing on a photo, it slows  down ALL develop module actions, including switching from one photo to another.

A description of your computer and operating system would be helpful as well. I don't have any problems with Lightroom on my computer, and it's an old HP Pavilion. Not going to bore you with the other specs because that's irrelevant at this point. But the more you can tell us about your computer, the more we can hopefully point you in the right direction.
