Hello, The software has been very slow since the last update. I have an XPS 15 laptop with 64GB of RAM. When I'm working in Lightroom, I constantly have to close everything and restart to regain some speed. However, neither the processor and the RAM ever exceed 40% and 30% of their capacity under Windows.
What can i do ?
Bonjour Jean francois!

We're waiting for the experts.
But I bet the problem is with the video card. And since Adobe isn't interested, they'll just tell you to disable it, and it won't work as well as before, but it'll be more stable.

Hi @jean-francoisl71678504 Thank you for reaching out and providing the system information AxelMatt asked!
Here are a few things you can try out to improve the performance:
1) Optimize Catalog: Go to File > Optimize Catalog and let Lightroom perform this maintenance task.
Increase Camera Raw Cache Size: In Lightroom, go to Edit > Preferences > Performance. Increase the Camera Raw Cache Size to 10GB or more. Consider placing this cache on your fastest SSD if it isn't already.
2) Standard Preview Size: Ensure your standard preview size (in Catalog Settings > File Handling) isn't unnecessarily large for your typical viewing habits.
3) Check for a GPU related issue: Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance.
Try setting "Use Graphics Processor" to Off. Restart Lightroom and test.
If that helps, there's likely a GPU-related issue. If it doesn't, set it back to Auto or your preferred setting.
4) Reset Lightroom preferences: Backup your preferences first! (Find locations here: https://adobe.ly/3HfsYu8) and copy-paste the file to a safe location.
To reset, hold down Alt + Shift (Windows) while launching Lightroom Classic. Confirm that you want to reset preferences.
5) Hard Drive Space: Ensure your system drive (C:) and the drive where your Lightroom catalog and previews are stored have at least 20-25% free space.
Try these out and see if it fixes anything and let us know how it goes!
For more information you can refer to this Helpx article. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/optimize-performance-lightroom.html
Cheers!

In your System Info I see that you don't use the recent version of the graphic device driver. GotoNVidia's website and search for the latest version, download and install it. Then check again. Make sure that you're using the Studio version of the driver and not the Game Ready version.
If you have buldin a CPU with an internal graphic processor disable the processor internal graphic card.
To disable use the Device Manager on Windows. In the Device Manager, right-click the card's name and choose Disable.

Your GPU driver is old (version 565.90). The GPU is also disabled according to the system info.
Downoad the latest Studio driver from here – version 576.52 and install it

You also have an integrated GPU – Iris Xe Graphics that seems to be active.
Adobe software doesn't work well with dual GPUs.
Go to Control panel > Device manager > Display adapters.
Right click Iris Xe Graphics and choose Disable device. (do not disable the RTX 4070)

It should be possible to connect the external screen to the RTX 4070.
It's not something I'm familiar with, but I found this on a Microsoft forum.

@Noel Orridge Just trying to glom onto this thread but for my own purposes. Briefly, I'm on a 4 year old M1 Mac and also have 166K files in my Lightroom CC. Now if I do anything, there is a terrible time penalty. I'll take any advice, given enoiugh back and forth times for this asyncronous conversation. I have been startin g a purge campaign, to fianlly admit that I do not personally need all the photos I typically shoot, so have been Xing many and then filtering to X and Delete from System, WHich then runs into all sorts iof errors after I come back from the extreme long process times to even see the errors. I also notice "Invalid..." in gray next to many sub folders. Is 166K files too much for Lightroom CLassic on any system?

Slow doing what tasks in Lightroom Classic? Please be specific and detailed.
Please also check to make sure that synching with the cloud is off, face detection is off, address lookup is off. If you are someone who doesn't use one or all of these features, don't say "I don't use those", that's not what I want you to do. I want you to visually check that these are off (or paused).

But i put the latest version of me Nvidia card driver and now it's a little bit faster.
I also unlock "Limit the memory cache video" and put "Use Graphics Processor" on "auto"

START MS-CXH:LOCALONLY enter
Fiz a instalação do Drive Studio e fluiu tudo bem. Instalei a versão 576.52 lançada 19.maio.2025.

Hi!
I have the same problem. I work on a Macbook Pro M2 with 8GB RAM and it is unusable. It is the same laptop that in the sommer of 2022 (about v12) was flying with Lightroom and Photoshop. Right now I am very frustrated. It takes a few seconds to load one RAW file. I am looking for alternatives because as I understand, Adobe is not optimising the software for M processors. It is just a joke. Today I erased (reset) the laptop hoping to solve something, I dont know. It is absolutly the same useless software. Thank you

Using MACBook Pro with M1 chip, MacOS 15.5, 16GB Memory: Once I use super resolution on a raw image, many actions slow down to almost being unusable. So far, this includes additional edits and moving to another image. Is there anything to do to optimize working in Lightroom Classic? It is not really possible to work through my photos after a shoot.

Resizing the window was the only thing that worked for me.
Nothing else made a difference. On macOS, everything runs perfectly. But on Windows, it's a frustrating experience. It seems Adobe still can’t scale properly on high-resolution displays, and performance suffers—especially when it comes to RAM handling. This has been a persistent issue for years, and it’s still not fixed.
Honestly, it’s another reason to consider moving away from Adobe products. If you're using a 4K screen or higher, the only workaround I found was to resize the Lightroom window to half its size. That instantly improves image loading speed in Develop mode. Library mode works fine because it doesn’t need to load masks and all the detailed adjustments.
