Hi,

LR Classc version 14.0.1 is all of a sudden missiing the apply button.

So now, when I click add, the apply button is misssing, when I hot generate, its removes every single time and is not adding to my selection.

Even when I click add, the only button now available, is to 'remove', and it does just that.

I click re-generate so many times, and it removes, not adds.

I have uninstalled LR, Updated, nothing is working.

First, restart your computer. If the problem persists, try resetting LR's preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

If this doesn't help, please attach a full-resolution screen recording (not a phone video), so we can see precisely what you're seeing:

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't think there ever was an Apply button.

The Add and Subtract buttons are for using the brush to add or subtract from the selection.

You can leave it on Add, and press the Alt key while brushing to subtract.

Once you're happy with the selection, click Remove to apply.

Hi Per, yes there was an 'apply' button before. As per video from GoldingD below.

Even if I click "ADD" the only option is to then click remove, the apply button is no longer available......and it doesn't just that every time, it removes, it doesn't add to my selection, and for every time I re-generate, it still removes.......its frustrating. Now I have to take it into PS to add to my selection which is just adding an extra step to my workflow, which is what I am trying to avoid......it appears this is what I have to do though now.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying, I know I can use the ALT to add/subtract, that's not what I was referring to 🙂 have a good day.

The author is apparently referring to the Apply button as seen in this somewhat dated tutorial by Julieanne Kost:

I suspect that the word Apply has been replaced by the word Remove:

thank-you, that was exactly what I was referring to. However now, even when I click ADD, then the only option to process my mask, is Remove.....and everyime, it is doing just that, removing every time.....arrrr...

Thanks for the message, you are the only one that understood where I was coming from, have a fab day 🙂

"now, even when I click ADD, then the only option to process my mask, is Remove.....and everyime, it is doing just that, removing every time."

Rereading your posts, I'm still confused as to what you're seeing and thus whether your LR is misbehaving or you misunderstand how Remove works.

When you first click the Remove tool and then Remove mode and select Use Generative AI, you should see this:

JohnREllis_0-1733945420375.png

After you use the brush to make your selection, it should be highlighted in red and you should see this:

JohnREllis_6-1733946084891.png

The Add and Subtract buttons are toggles affecting the action of future brush strokes.  When Add is selected, then subsequent brush strokes you make will be added to the current selection:

When Subtract is selected, then subsequent brush strokes will be removed from the existing selection:

When you've got the desired selection, then click Remove, and it will then attempt to remove the object you've selected:

If you're seeing behavior that doesn't match this, then rather than playing 20 questions, the most efficient way to communicate what you're seeing is to make a screen recording (not a phone video) and attach it here (it's really easy):
