Lightroom could not import this catalog due to an unknown error"

I would be grateful of help

I am try to import a catalog from my macbook pro light room of 9271 images which I took overseas to my main desk top lighroom catalog (windows 10)

500 images are imported. Then I get the message"Lightroom could not import this catalog due to an unknown error"

When I try and continue importing the images above 500 , nothing at all is imported and I get the same message.

My lightroom on the windows 10 is up  to date Lightroom Classic 8.1 release, camera raw 11.1

The lightroom classic on my macbook pro appears to be up to date  7.5 release, camera raw 10.5

I do not wish to have separte catalog, and would appreciate help in solving this

One note of interest all the 500 images that were successfully imported now show the !! sign, indicating metadata conflict even though I have not worked on any of these images in lightroom or photshop or other applications

any suggestions

Michael

First off, why have you not updated the Lightroom on the MAC?

Thanks David

I thought My Mac Lightroom was up to date. I will attempt to update it as you suggest

I transported the images and the light room catalog across using and external hard drive

I am not planning to keep a duplicate copy , I will delete my mac catalog once I have combined the images into my main catalog

any further suggestions?

cheers

Michael

Keep the duplicate copies, that’s two emergency backups in hand.

Well it is clearly not

Your copy of Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application is failing you then.

A bit further down will be a link on the subject. Now some one disagree, but this from an earlier instruction from Adobe, that I cannot prove, but general method to fix is to remove (uninstall) the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application and download a fresh new copy, then reinstall it. Just that one app, not your programs Photoshop, Lightroom, LightRoom Classic, etc

First an Adobe instruction on reinstalling the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app

Uninstall the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application

Then for clarity, the previously mentioned link on Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app failing to show updates (in my opinion solution 5 means removing the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app, nit any if the CC programs)

Available updates not listed for Adobe Creative Cloud applications

And this one

Second off, what have your steps been? How are you transporting across? Via a external hard drive? Via LAN?

Third, are you attempting to maintain a duplicate catalog and image structure on both the MAC and the PC, perhaps to do work In the field or studio on the MAC, then bring that home and continue work on the PC?

I have asked another member to step in and provide some guidance on the export/sync process.

But in creating that request, I am reminded about a possible issue to clear up.

Your external Hard drive, what type of partition (format) is on it? Of course if you have previously used it to move files from MAC to WIN, then this question is moot.

On the MAC OS, right clcik on the drive, select get information, note the format listed.

This effects ability to use the external hard drive on both OS. Not your current problem.

Ok, you are importing, so that all is moot. Never mind
