Question

Import OMF into session template

This seems like a simple question but I can't find the answer anywhere.  I am moving from ProTools to Audition and have an .omf from a client.  I created a session template with my track layout, busses and plugins.  I would like to import an .omf into the session so that I can move the audio on the .omf imported tracks to the proper tracks in my template session. When I import an .omf it creates a new layout with the .omf imported tracks but I can't find a way to bring those tracks into my template layout.  What am I missing?

Thanks!

I think you need to take a close look at this utility which will convert your omf to Audition Sesx format.

Thanks Jeff!  I am not having any issues importing the .omf into Audition.  I was just wondering how I applied those tracks to my default session layout.

NO, I need this to work everytime. I use it everyday, getting OMFs or AAFs from editors. I can not believe that Audition can not do this.

The translator program seems like a good long term solution.  Adobe is never going to support .aaf's as far as I can tell.  Unfortunately, my Audition to replace ProTools experiment was not successful and I still need to use ProTools for anything that comes from and Avid shop.  Only using Audition for podcasting at this point.

The way I dealt with the original question about importing .omf files into an Audition session is to open the omf and manually copy and past each track over to a new session.
