Lightroom exporting is reducing size of image

I have been using Lightroom Classic for many years, but I have only now come across an issue where my 8000 long length pixel photos are exporting at 2540 pixels long and what should be a 45mgb file is on 3.3mgb.

I have checked the settings in Export and there is nothing showing there that should be reducing my Images in this way.

Has anyone else experienced this and can you tell me how to sort this?

Sounds like you are exporting from a smart preview rather than the full size original. Is it possible that the original is missing, but you did not notice this because you have smart previews?

I've got round it by ticking the Resize to Fit option and changed the pixel length to 8000 pixels

The Resize to Fit option is bad choice as it upscales your images to 8000 px. You really should be trying to establish why the images are only 2540 px to begin with. I suspect the reason is that you're using Smart Previews rather then the original images.

I am Ian and I get what you are saying.

Strangely enough I have a second set of images in Lightroom and having now removed the tick against resize to fit, they are now exporting at 8000. The original set is still exporting at 2540 px so it might be something to do with the particular set.

Sorted Ian.

The original CR3 files are on an external hard drive, that I had disconnected. The exports must have been from Smart Previews, as you say. Having plugged the ED back in the original set are now exporting at 8000.

Thanks for your help.

If you have checked that there are no appropriate settings for the Export try to reset the preferences of Lightroom Classic to the drefault settings:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

Before you do the reset it's recommended to backup your preferences:
