Lightroom hangs on startup after update to 8.4

I am on MacOS 10.14.6 Macbook Pro 13 2016 no touch bar with eGPU AMD Radeon 580

Lightroom won't open with my catalog, it just hang/crash upon start up.

Tried backups of my catalog up to a year ago and no luck, new catalog works fine but unable to import my old catalog.

after 4 hours of all kind of test, I decided to roll back to 8.31 and voila everything works as expected....

I really don't mind using the old version, but this is extremely frustrating.

If you delete the preferences, and LR doesn't attempt to load that catalog, does it at least launch or it crashes as it's launching?

OK, that's good to know.

Then open without the catalog of course (cause you can't) go under Help and provide the System Info for perhaps someone from Adobe who can decipher it. That might be a clue.

And you did delete preferences?

deleted pref, reset, uninstall reinstall, nothing works.

I even tried creating a new catalo and import my old one, didn’t work.

I now roll back to 8.31 to finish workin on current project , will do the help thing when I finish workin.

learned my lesson, turn off auto update immediately.....

Can I please get you to report it on the official bug forum. Instructions are here: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/send-bug-report-feature-request-adobe/

I'm tracking 3 very similar-sounding reports, so the engineers need to be aware of it. Thanks
