Lightroom is deleting 1:1 previews

Explorer ,
Jul 07, 2025 Jul 07, 2025

Hi,

Lightroom is deleting my 1:1 previews after a few days even though I have preferences set to keep them for 30 days.  Any ideas or fixes?  Maybe a cache limit?

Thanks

John

Go to Catalog Settings and check if there is a limit set to the size of the previews cache. Also remember that previews need to be rebuilt when you've made changes.

How much free disk space do you have on the drive where's the preview cache is located?

Yes it was set to 5 by default.

Only 5GB? That is extremely small, meaning Lightroom has no choice but to delete previews very rapidly.

I guess that could be why? It was set by default to that. What is a
recommended cache setting?

There is no recommended setting, but it makes sense to give Lightroom plenty of disk space for the previews.
