Lightroom not opening Photoshop for Open as Layers

I have a problem with Lightroom CC2015.7  and Photoshop CC2017

Edit in Photoshop opens Photoshop CC2017 correctly but -

Open as Layers in Photoshop  hangs and eventually an error message appears.

If Photoshop is already open, Open as layers works

Please add your me-too vote to this bug report in the official Adobe feedback forum, making it a littlle more likely Adobe might prioritize a fix: Lightroom 6.7: Opening photos in Photoshop from Lightroom using Edit In does not work correctly for ... That bug report also contains another workaround.

There is another option. Either first or after you select Edit In > Open As Layers select Edit In > PS version you are running. With that PS will open and then your images that you selected to open as layers will be loaded. Close the first image without saving.
