Lightroom second window too big when moved to secondary monitor

Not sure whether this is a Lightroom issue or a Windows issue, but would be grateful for ideas on how to fix.  I am using Lightroom Classic version 11.1 on a laptop with Windows 11.  When I go into Lightroom and open up the second window, it opens on my main monitor and is the size of the main monitor.  But when I move the second window over to the secondary monitor, the scale is all wrong, as it's enlarged to a point where I can only see part of it on the second monitor.  In Windows, I have already gone to "Display settings" and verified that the scale is set to 100%, which is the lowest scale setting available.  I have attached screenshots below.  Any ideas on how to fix?

If the screenshot shows both displays in full, then the explanation seems simple. The secondary display has an entirely different aspect ratio, so you can't expect the same size window to fit both displays. Set the secondary window to full screen mode after you moved it, or resize it manually.

This is not the problem.  (I had put a note about the screenshot in the doc, but perhaps it wasn't easily noticed or wasn't clear.) To clarify, on the secondary monitor itself, Lightroom covers all the real estate on the screen.  Those black rectangles above and below Lightroom are a function of the screenshotting process, not what I actually see on the secondary monitor.

One more troubleshooting step I have tried, but did not work:  Downloading the current driver for my secondary monitor.

I had the same issue and found the solution posted at "The Lightroom Queen".

On your computer, do the following:

• find the Lightroom.exe --> right-click on it and select Properties

• in the Properties window --> go to the Compatability tab

• in the Compatability tab --> click on "Chang High DPI Setting" which is close to the bottom

• check the box with "High DPI Scaling Override" and select "System (Enhanced)"

This fixed the issue for me.....and no need for a new monitor 😀

Have you check 'Display settings' for each monitor to see if they are same aspect ratio?  There maybe a choice for the 2nd which matches the 1st

Thanks for the suggestion.  The monitors have different aspect ratios.  I can't see a way to change the aspect ratio in 'Display settings.'  In any event, the display has been fine on the secondary monitor for things other than Lightrom.  (I also just checked what happens when I move Photoshop to the secondary monitor and it's fine.)  But I suspect that aspect ratios have something to do with it.  It seems that Lightroom does not adjust to the different aspect ratio.  To give another example, the doc below shows the Grid open on my main monitor, and the photo shows what happens when I move it to the secondary monitor (i.e., all the panels and other elements in the Grid display take on different dimensions).

Suspected that.  Looks as if you are just going to have to reduce from full screen to adjusted size.

Have you looked in the graphics driver software.  There may be options to 'scale to full screen', 'center image', 'display scaling'....or similar.  One may do trick.  A lot depends of the drive function/capability

How do I find that?  I have tried looking at Device Manager > Monitors > [name of monitor] and Device Manager > Software devices > NVIDIA Plaform Controllers and Framework and can't see anything to change there.  I have also gone to my NVIDIA Control Panel and can't see any pertinent changes I could make there either.

I can't adjust from full screen because I am already on 100%, which is the smallest available.

I'm using Lightroom with two monitors with different aspect ratios without issues.

My main monitor is 1920x1200, and the second is 1600x1200.

I have no idea what's causing this, but you could try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

After further poking around, I seem to have found the problem.  The resolution on my laptop (the main monitor) is 3840 x 2400, whereas the resolution on my secondary monitor is 1920 x 1080, which is the highest resolution available for that monitor.  When I switch the resolution of my main monitor to match the secondary monitor by changing it to 1920 x 1080, Lightroom also appears at the distorted, large size on my main monitor.  So I now have an excuse to go buy a 4K secondary monitor!

I found this thread because I am having the same problem.  I have a 2021 Dell XPS15 and a Dell 27 inch monitor, also purchased in 2021, and am bummed to learn that the solution is more hardware.  What monitor did you buy to fix the problem?

Adjust the monitors to be closer to the same resolution in display mode and restart lightroom. Sorry no new monitor needed.
