LR 6 issue after update to new OS

Community Beginner ,
Nov 23, 2017 Nov 23, 2017

I just updated my mac to the latest operating system (High Sierra) and my Lightroom quits before it even gets a chance to open. I managed to open on like the 20th try through the latest catalog, but it quits after while anyway!!! HELP! How do I resolve this issue?!?!? I'm using it daily for my photography and this is very frustrating...

Best,

Ilona

None of this will mess up your catalogs.

All you need is the downloads and your serial number (and you might not even need the serial number if LR 6 was properly installed at one time, which it appears to have been)

What is the version NUMBER of your Lightroom? Go to Help->System Info and tell us the Lightroom version number shown there. Do not copy and paste the entire System Info dialog into this forum. Do not use version words like "current" or "up-to-date".

Unfortunately, I can't find a simple way to update my lightroom version.

I have purchased "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" version 6.0 in 2015.

all I see is Photoshop CS6 , not lightroom!? Am I searching in a wrong place?Screen Shot 2017-11-24 at 9.31.40 PM.png

Are you installing the update? Or the main installer?

To be fair, I don't think you have explained what exactly you are doing. Please tell us, step by step, what you have done.

I clicked the link for Lightroom 6.13

Double clicked the setup (1) folder in my downloads

Double clicked the AdobePatchinstaller.app

Let the Update Progress proceed and got the Update Failed messageScreen Shot 2017-11-24 at 10.59.45 PM.png

You may have to uninstall Lightroom, and then re-install.

To re-install, download the Application Installer from the link above and then install that. Then, download the Lightroom 6.13 update, and install that.

I don't need the disc for reinstalling, right? Just the serial number?

Also, will it mess up my created catalogs?

Just in case, Before you do anything, I highly suggest you make a copy (manually) of your catalog named:

(yourcatalogname).lrcat

And your Previews  named:

(yourcatalogname).lrdata

Place these copies so you will know where they are or on a separate drive.

When you update, and then open your catalog, Lightroom might say it needs to upgrade the catalog to the newer version.

And normally things go well....however you would have a copy of both the ".lrcat" and ".lrdata" files as back ups just in case.
