"LrC backup feature" is set under  the Lightroom CLassic> in the top title bar> select Catalog settings >Backups, and then set your pr3eferences as to where the catalog back ups should be stored (your external drive). You can then choose to back uo everytime LR exits, once a week, etc...  I suggest you also make a back up of all the photo files in a second location, whether during import or using a cloning tool, like carbon copy cloner, or other. Both the photo files (which are your negatives) and your catalog (the work you have done such as sorting, editing, cropping,) should both have duplicates on at least one external drive, preferbaly 2 or even 3, with one kept off site, in case of computer disaster or other disasters. ... I was also running Ventura and at first it would not update..So I updated to the latest version of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app,(not sure if I was on the latest or not but tried this anyhow) by first removing it using the Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller utility.  Then I downloaded and installed the current version of Creative Cloud desktop app.  then it worked.
