LR CC not importing all jpg files. Known bug?

When importing files from my SD card LR is not importing all of the jpgs. I am shooting raw plus jpg on a Fujifilm X-T1. It imports all of the raw files thankfully, but only some of the jpgs, about half. Strangely, when it fails to import a jpg file, it will import the raw file a second time and append "-2" to the filename. I checked in the import folder and this is not just a catalog issue but the way the files are being imported, or not being imported. This just started happening in the past few weeks or so. This has me very concerned. If there is one thing that really just should not happen it would be a failure to import a file, especially because the next think I am going to do is format that card.

Very interesting - I shoot Fuji and have never experienced it so I took a look and found this https://www.fujix-forum.com/threads/lightroom-problems-with-importing-jpeg-and-raw-files-from-one-sd... Appears to be a Lightroom problem with Mac. Note this, halfway down the thread, bolding is mine:

Please correct my error above. I wrote"Other tests were done using the internal Mac SD card reader, an external reader plugged into a USB port and copying and pasting files from the SD card to the Mac hard drive. The same results were obtained." Actually, the test with copying and pasting files from the SD to the Mac hard drive resulted in no problems.

What I do is go to preferences in LR and uncheck the box that says treat jpegs as a separate file.

Then all the RAW files are loaded up and I save the jpegs

So I am using a Mac and this does appear to get the jpg files onto my hard drive, but the jpg files are not imported into the LR catalog with this option. My understanding is that the jpg file is linked somehow to the raw so that they can be moved together but it is not actually imported into the catalog where it can be edited etc. With the Fujifilm Xtrans files often the jpg is the preferable file so importing in this fashion is not really a solution. I am hoping Adobe has a solution.
