LR Classic missing after Creative Cloud Desktop App update

LEGEND ,

So, noticed that my copy of Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App was getting an update. Fine.

Was working in Lightroom Classic just to look on how to answer a members discussion, FIne

Closed Lightroom, walked away for awhile. Came back to shut PC down, notice a missing icon. Hmm LR Classic icons. Unknown Update? New Icon over on left side of screen? No icon. Ok, make one, nope no executable to link

LR Classic Program folder Not in Recycle.

Did not update, only knew of the Creative Cloud Desktop App update, PS Ok, LR Cloud OK, Bridge OK, LR Classic not Ok.

In the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App it states Lightroom Classic is installed (yes the Classic)

Hmm, Ok, signed out at Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App. Signed in. No change

Next up, in the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App (ACCDA), went into Manage, Uninstalled LR Classic

In ACCDA clicked on Install. Lightroom Classic is now back. (still v 8.3.1)

Oh ACCDA now v 4.9.0.504 (no idea what it was earlier)

And should have included that I attempted to launch LR Classic after loss of icons by:

1. Simply bringing up the ACCDA and clicking on OPEN next to Lightroom Classics. Nothing happens, no program launch, no error

2. Double clicking on the previously opened catalog. Hmm lock file was present. Deleted Lock File, no joy

Application folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC\Adobe Lightroom Classic

Might have been looking in the wrong place for the supposed removed program. Actually very sure I was looking in the wrong place.

Perhaps this was a Registry issue.

Application folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC\Adobe Lightroom Classic

That path just bothers the heck out of me. Why in (x86)

So, looking at ACCDA, in its preferences, App file locations was in (x86)

Changed that to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud

Using ACCDA uninstalled LR Classic

Looked at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC and the "Adobe Lightroom Classic" folder is gone

Reinstall LR Classic

Yes, it is now where I would have expected it to be '

Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\Adobe Lightroom Classic

Yes, it is now where I would have expected it to be '

Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\Adobe Lightroom Classic

Not where I would expect it to be!

And in fact, I expect, and find my Lightroom-Classic app (.exe) file in-

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic\Lightroom.exe

New Icon over on left side of screen? No icon.

Not sure what "icon" you are referring to. A 'Start' icon?

If Lightroom-Classic will not start from the ACCDA then my suggestion would be to run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool and do a full re-install of Adobe programs. Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 14.5.1, Photoshop 26.10, ACR 17.5, Lightroom 8.5, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 15.1.1 .

Sure, now that I know how it is getting installed to a particular location, due to user involvement, I can get it installed into a more logical location. Will do.

As for icons, this on a Windows 10 rig

1. Icon the install scrip places on the desktop

2. Icon I copy from the desktop to the taskbar (this allows for single click)

In theory, could have also gone into Start, scrolled down to Adobe, Lightroom Classic, but that was gone as well.

One lesson learned, do not play around in the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application, in its preferences, in where it is set up to locate app installs, leave it at default

It just adds confusion later.
