LR Soft Proofing

New Here ,
Feb 21, 2018 Feb 21, 2018

Hi

I'm having some issues with printing with the Canon 100 Pro, with the colour not the same as the LR soft proof. I'm now going to try printing with the Print Studio Pro plug in. My question is do I still soft proof through Lightroom or make adjustments with Print Studio Pro?

Thanks in advance

Martyn

I then went through the print setting un-ticking and ticking again, but with the extra tick in the print preview box. When I came to print the preview showed the colour cast was still their so I cancelled the print.

Marty I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the Canon printer driver using a fresh download at the below link. Make sure to close all applications before doing so. There is also a new version of Print Studio Pro (2.2.2), which was released a few days ago on 3/08/2018.

I concur with Jim–Great location shot!

Will do, something must have gone a miss with the canon profiles. It makes sense to reinstall. Thanks for the link.

It's a good thing I didn't use Print Studio Pro that much. I downloaded the new one and tried to install it. The installer took over and got part way through and said that I needed Photoshop or Lightroom installed in order to complete the installation. Apparently the installation completed as far as putting the files on the computer, but it also removed the version off of the plug-in that was working. And the only way to start the new one was to install the plug-in. But that's when I got the message that I didn't have any supporting programs installed. Oh well, not a big loss. I guess Canon hasn't updated their software to recognize the new program names. Or, maybe I just did something wrong.

Incidentally, Martyn, I found the website for those profiles you mentioned. I didn't look closely, but it didn't look like they had profiles specific for the Pixma Pro 100. It looked to me like they were catering more to the really large format printers, but I could be wrong.

At that link for Print Studio Pro 2.2.2 under 'Driver/Software Details' It shows 'History' for Ver.2.2.1with some details on how the plugin should be installed. Apparently it has to be installed in the PS and LR plugin folders in a specific order. It's also usually best to manually uninstall the previous version first. I have no idea how this plugin works from inside LR and PS, but it gives you another option for printing.

[v.2.2.2]

- The correction of start-up failure of Print Studio Pro when linking from Digital Photo Professional.

[Ver.2.2.1]

- Adobe Photoshop CC 2018, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC have been added as an applicable associated application.

Select [Print Studio Pro Plug-In Install] from [Start] -> [Canon Utilities] -> [Print Studio Pro], then install plug-in of Print Studio Pro in the following folder:

<Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 : 32bit OS Environment>

%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 (32 Bit)\Plug-ins

<Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 : 64bit OS Environment>

%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018\Plug-ins

<Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 : 32bit OS Environment>

%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 (32 Bit)\Plug-ins

<Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018 : 64bit OS Environment>

%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018\Plug-ins

<Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC : 32bit OS Environment>

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC does not support to the 32bit OS.

<Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC : 64bit OS Environment>

%AppData%\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules

- The failure that occurs in using Adjustments layer in Photoshop is fixed.

Todd, this thank you is a little late coming. I'm a little dense and apparently unaffected by old age so it took a while for me to figure out that I had to create that path in AppData before I could install the plug-in. For anyone else who is wondering, you'll need do have administrative rights so that you can create the path. Then you can run the installer to place the Print Studio Pro plug-in in that folder. Then you will have to run the plug-in manager in Lightroom. After that the plug-in will show up in the menu. It works fine after that. Thank you, Todd. Using Lightroom Classic CC on Windows 10.

I struggled with a magenta cast on some other paper and eventually discovered I was using AirPrint to drive my printers. That definitely screwed the colours and gave a strong magenta cast to every print.

I have since re-instgalled my printer drivers using the supplied Canon ones and that problem went away.

If you have issues with a magenta cast on all images check you are not using Airprint on the Mac.
