LR version 12.0.1 crop tool problems

Today I got the latest version of Lightroom Classic. I was very excited until I tried to use the crop tool 😞

Using LR for the first time after the updated, with GPU acceleration enabled the crop tool initially just showed a black screen. After a restart seemed to improve things however whilst it now shows the image and overlay, the acceleration graphic just spins and after a little while it crashed LR (I think it did send a crash report).

After reseting all preferences, no improvement.

After turning of GPU acceleration, whilst it does show the image and overlay it doesn't show the done button at the bottom. This is true whether LR is maximised or not. I also tried reducing the Navigator zoom percentage so I can see more space around the image, but going to the Crop tool it just shows the same. It looks like this, it's just not rendering the area around the bottom of the crop image display:

After writing the above, I turned GPU acceleration back on and LR no longer crashes, but I still can't see the bottom section.

With GPU acceleration enabled, I tried to change the Navigator view and it does the spinny and nothing happens:

I'm feeling like a Beta tester!

System:

Windows 10 Pro, 22H2, OS build: 19045.2193

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K - 32GB

GPU: Nvidia 3070Ti FE

LR version: 12.0.1

For now I'm going to attempt to go back to the older version as I need a stable application!

The Done button was removed in version 12.

See this thread for workarounds, where you can also add your vote for having the button back.

My recommendation is to use the keyboard, press R or Enter when you're done. Alternatively click the Edit button on the toolbar.

Updating your graphics driver may let you work with the GPU enabled in version 12.

Update:

I installed version 12.0 and the crop tool has the same issue:

I can see that LR is using my upgraded catalogue.

Next step is to try version 11 with my older catalogue.

2nd Update:

Boy am I happy to see this little button back:

I was able to install version 11 (11.5) through the Creative Cloud Desktop (hats off to the devs on this tool, it made the process so easy).

Running with my previous version of the catalog with version 11.5, I have no issues.

For now, I will go with the older version so I can continue working on my images.

Waiting patiently.

Nathan

Thanks... I had no idea that the button had been removed on purpose!

GPU support is a worry but I'll give the latest Game Ready 526.47 drivers a go as I also use my PC for light gaming... if they don't work, I can also give the Nvidia Studio drivers a go.

Studio drivers are more thoroughly tested, have fewer bugs than game ready drivers, and are recommended for photo editing.

I don't do gaming, so I don't know if a studio driver will have any negative effect on gaming performance.

Unfortunately I'm still having major issues with GPU acceleration... it keeps turning itself off due to errors so I'm going back to V11.5 until there's a newer version of 12 or Nvidia drivers. That's with the most recent Studio Drivers 522.30.

The fun continues... LR 11.5 is just as flakey with GPU acceleration.

I'm now thinking it's the Windows 10 update to 22H2...
