I've been experiencing a massive drop in performance in Lightroom. On my Windows Desktop (7900X, 64GB DDR5, RTX 4080) as well as on a Macbook 16" (M1 Max, 32gb, 32C GPU).
I tend to use a fair bit of masks and often work with panoramas, but I don't really had much issues with that in the past. Especially when working on/with/adding masks, the program becomes pretty much unresponsive and at times even crashes. I've tried with GPU acceleration on and off, experience is pretty much the same. All drivers are also up-to-date. Anyone else experiencing any of the sort? Solutions? Or am I using an excessive amount of masks (I really don't think I am).

I wish. Using a 4k display on a 4080ti. Working with masks makes me wanna commit a mass genocide. I have no idea how this can happen in a modern software....

See this thread. The problem turned out to be a mis-configured antivirus.

I don't have an anti-virus... Not on my mac nor windows machine (other than built in windows defender). I've continued using lightroom since this post, but can't go all out with masks, especially not on high res panoramas. Video memory can't be it either, I've since upgraded my macbook to one with 64gb - so it should be able to load all in memory.

You mean you have 64GB of video memory? Or 64GB of shared memory?

High res panoramas hasn't been mentioned previously in this thread. I think this is important. I don't know what the solution is, but its good you have told us. How many images go into this panorama? How high res is it? What is the width and height of this panorama in pixels?
