Lrc dont recognize corectly quota and amount of files

Hi all. My name is Marek. I need your help 😉 On my NAS Synology 423+ drive I have several directories with photos. While importing one of them, LrC "recognizes" 21,000 photos, but physically I have less than 31,000 on the drive. Comparison of the memory, respectively 700 GB "recognized" by LrC and 950 GB on the drive. What could be wrong that LrC does not see all files that are jpg or RAW files? Thanks for any hint 😊

You mention jpeg and raw raw, but not wheter their the same photo. If you capture raw and jpeg for same photo, then make sure that the preference for raw and jpeg is set to 'Treat JPEG files next to raw files a separate photos'. See attached screenshot

Marek: if you are using email - you will need to use a web browser to see the screenshot which has been posted.

Otherwise, you can find this in the Lightroom Classic "Preferences". General tab, Import Options section, "Treat JPEG files next to Raw files as separate photos" - the default is for this option to be un-checked.

edit: Good point above about Raw+JPG, that is the most likely explanation IMHO

One other possibility is that LrC has detected some (suspected) duplicates. When LrC evaluates that a given file appears to match up with another that has already been imported (if seems to be a second instance of the same photo) it will - by default - disregard that.

IMO rightly - while it is possible to change the Catalog's import behaviour for suspected duplicates, including this check does serve a useful purpose.

Another possibility is that your LrC session lacks the needed access permissions to some parts of the NAS file system.

A further possibility (I suppose, tentatively) might be - if you use symbolic links - that a spurious count of the discrete physical files present, may be being presented by your file browser.
