I've been fighting with LRC for a while now and it seems like a simple setting is not working for some reason.
My workflow was always RAW Process on DXO -> TIFF -> Import to LRC -> Edit it PS as PSD -> Back to LRC
So LRC is being used primary for cataloging.
But no matter what setting I set for Edit In, the TIFF is not being converted to PSD. More specific, even if I choose to edit copy, another TIFF file is being created instead of PSD.
When I had older version of Photoshop installed, namely 2021, I could have secondary PS as external editor and my workaround was: Edit In PS 2021, choose PSD, close file and edit the stacked copy from LRC as Edit Original.
But since PS 2021 has been deleted, no other work around, unless to open in some other external editor, to create PSD.
Any help would be appreciated ❤️

When you finish in PS do you click on Save, or Save As. For some Save As will not return the file to LrC, that used to be as designed (but may have changed, except it fails for some), Oh, and Close would also work.

So three scenarios are:
1. Edit In PS 2024 - Edit Original: edits original, not creating another file. Creating layers and saving under Save will save as TIFF (Not what I want)
2. Edit In PS 2024 - Edit a Copy: creates another tiff file right away, again not what I want
3. Edit In PS 2024 - Edit a Copy with LRC Adjustments, opens TIFF in PS. Creating layers and clickins Save.... wait a sec... that does it... it saves it as PSD fml 🤦:male_sign:
So I was expecting it to create PSD file right away, and it confused me that in History Panel it showed up as .tif file

When you send an image from Lightroom to Photoshop, that image is not yet saved in Photoshop and so Photoshop will show the original file extension. Even if you send a raw file you will see this, so Photoshop will show 'filename.raw' even though Photoshop can't even open raw files directly. When you hit 'Save', the file is saved in the file format you have defined in the preferences. This always applies to the third (and only in case of raw) option: 'Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments'.
This behavior is different in a logical way when the original is already a TIFF file. You'll get two extra options now. If you choose 'Edit Original', then obviously that means you will get a TIFF file, because the original is TIFF. If Photoshop would change this to PSD, then you would not be editing the original! And 'Edit a copy' will create an exact copy of the original (no Lightroom edits applied), and as a copy of a TIFF is another TIFF, that is what you will get. You may not like it because you want a PSD for reasons unknown to me, but it does make sense in my opinion.
